My sponsored 78 shovelhead build thread

Looks SUPER rad…pics don’t really do it justice…it has sort of a soul/personality to it when you’re standing next to it.

That tank looks perfect

Looks dope

Woah. How’s this work?

From a few pages back

This came out pretty rad. Made some BMX bars…

Used 1" 316ss polished dairy pipe and weld-els. Stuff is sweet. But instead of mounting them in the normal manner I got a little creative. Then I threw on the BMW headlight I built a few weeks ago.

Think it came out pretty cool.

Bars turned out great.

Dan

looks legit, i love how flat the handle bars lay

I’m not a bike guy, but this thing is god damned radical.

FUCK that handlebar and headlight setup rules so hard.

I like the clearance of the tire in between the forks.

+1 Great job. The tank really looks like it fits as well. Thing is rad.

Did you RP the headlight surround?

Thats it. Lock my thread. I give up.

 digging it

I see what you did there

Figured since I’m going to be upping the power a bit that I would beef up the frame a bit.

For those that don’t know the seat tube mount is 2 stamped pieces of 10ga steel. The first thing I did was box it into a closed section. The second thing (not done) is to make a gusset (probably tube) that acts as a cross brace between this part and the trans cross member and mimics the stock gusset. This was mostly tig with a little bit of mig mixed in.

thats what im sayin to you!

Almost certainly unnecessary, but:

This is the first time I’ve considered abandoning the turbo for something more simple and elegant… I have a plan to integrate my oil tank into my fuel tank, leaving the whole area above the trans open for maybe a small compartment (probably that looks like a mooneyes oil bag), slapping a magneto on it and a carb and building some sort of sweet exhaust… The turbo would be rad, but I am LOVING the lines of this and the turbo and all the associated kit might make it a bit cluttered (at the very least I’d need an electric fuel pump, electric oil pump, and a small battery).

The extra kit would go in a faux oil tank under the seat, and the turbo would hang off the side.

I’d love to be able to put the turbo under the seat or something, but then I’ve gotta find somewhere else for all that other stuff… adding EFI just gives me even MORE stuff i need to cram in somewhere…

I haven’t abandoned it yet, though…

Anyway… I’m LOVING the way this looks:
