My winter IX RS project cleanup

Looks great man.

So Clean! Nice work

Real nice…

nice job!

a new air filter and your set

Looking back at my to-do list, I have basically finished 4 and 5, and started working on 1 and 2:

  1. Rewire the headlights to have complete, factory working high/low beams
  2. Wire my fans and electric water pump to key on, instead of a switch
  3. Wire my fuel pump to a toggle switch, for high and low settings
  4. Misc. cleanup around the car, inside and out
  5. If all goes to plan, extend wires and place the entire fuse block behind the dash

Once I finish up in the engine bay, I can run the new wires up for the headlights, and have all of that done for good!

Also, it may not be clear all of what I removed from the engine bay, so I did a quick before and after in Photoshop:

Great progress Mark!

I love it. It basically looks like you have a foot + of access to anything in there lol

Good work

Last night I didn’t do anything to the car, I just got a chance to clean up my garage and make some more room, but I did snap a few pics with the bumper back on. I REALLY wish that I could leave the headlights out, and just put some turn signals in the carbon fiber delete panels :frowning:

Those wheels look great.

those wheels do look good, when you first posted them i didnt really like them but in those pics they def look nice

Great job on the cleanup. Everything looks awesome.

take off that heat shield cover! it makes all the pretty stuff look like poo =(

Unless he were to coat the stock manifold, usually they rust and dont look the best. I do agree thought that you could use some “bling” of some sort there. Maybe blast and repaint the stock shield??

It’s functional, helps keep the heat in the manifold and not wasted energy.

I’ll have a big honking turbo sticking out of the front someday, but until then, I like my stock heat shield

and it hides the :snky:

So, tonight, I spent the past 4 hours out in my 70 degree garage working away. I hooked the starter wire back up, tightened up the charge pipe, went and checked everything under the hood good, and then went on to the inside.

I got under the dash, and I am just test fitting everything now. I found a bunch of ground spots to hook up the harness grounds too, ran all of the connectors back to where they go, made new battery cables, fit everything in and then put the battery in. As you can see, it’s very sloppy now, but I am not finishing up, I am just verifying that the car still starts, before I pull the dash and work on the next harness.

Here is a picture of how I have everything laid out for testing:

I double checked everything, primed the car, and tested for leaks. No fuel leaks, so I continued to start it up. The battery was ALMOST dead, but it did crank over, the dome lights and dash lights came on, and the car was about to fire. The battery is completely dead now though, and I don’t have the jumper pack at the house right now. I need to run out to auto-zone and charge this up on my lunch break tomorrow, then it should fire right up after work. Let’s hope!

But, it primes, cranks, lights work, no fires, no leaks. I think it’s going to work

Here is a quick video I just threw together, I wish it fired though:

Pssssht who cares if it runs. Car looks SO GOOD. Great work man.

Thanks man! Lots of hard work is finally paying off!

P.S. My fuel pump is loud as hell.

Awesome!

That shrink tubing work? And Im assuming the starter wires were long enough
