Its not about being hard, is about money…most guys looking for 200hp NA are on a budget, usually can’t afford to swap or go turbo or are lacking the skills to do so…you will need an advanced ems like sds or aem, so thats 1000-2000 right there…its not just I/H/E like most only dream it was…pistions, rods too if you wanna rev the KA, valvetrain, cams, p&p, lightweight pully’s/flywheel/driveshaft, etc…posibly ITB’s and a coil on plug ignition…basicaly its going to cost the same as a 400+hp turbo setup on a KA with only minimal difference in reliability…more power to ya if ya do, but for your average joe its not worth it…be fun for auto x though!

Coil on plug ignition??? Most people get rid of that due to the fact the coil packs get heat soaked and crap out and are not stong enough. If you want to upgrade you get LS1 Coils…Which have spark plug wires.
i think you’d be better off looking on the SE-R forums about the SQR23DE setup. it takes an NA QR and uses SR crank and custom pistons and rods. the result is something phenomenal. the guy who engineered it is looking for 250-270whp NA! the turbo version already made 393 HP.
before you go off and think that’s FWD, there are RWD QR’s in trucks, and there’s probably a bellhousing adaptor that’ll work with the KA transmission.
