My appeal hearing is coming up for my driving under suspension charge. I have talked to alot of lawyers who think they can get me my license back. Unfortunately they are horribly expensive. Any of you guys know a lawyer or used a lawyer in the past that is reasonably priced? Preferably one who handles alot of traffic violations. Thanks guys.
Rick Cohen is one of the best…his office is down on Grant Street. All he deals with is DUI and traffic law. Unfortunately, he wants his fees up front, and is pretty expensive. But he’ll get what you need done done if you’re willing to pay him.

Ya he is pretty expensive. It sucks because getting my license back is pretty much priceless to me but I don’t have the loot. I had to quit my job and shit because of this. Cheapest I have found has been a grand so far. No payment plans. All want the money up front.
that’s what happens when you deal with criminals all day… you expect to not be paid, so they want it up front. common practice.
take a personal loan and pay it outright.
I used Cohen before great attourney
Tried to get a loan. Can’t get shit without a job. Had to quit it cause I couldn’t get there. Thats why I was trying to dump the car, to get some cash to get outta this mess. Just talked to Delta Law Group. Said it would be a 500 dollar flat fee. Waiting for the traffic law specialist to call me back. The guy told me theres a good chance I could win since its not DUI related. We’ll see what happens.
Dumb question, if you quite your job because you couldn’t get there, because you lost your license, what the hell was more important than going to work that got you busted for driving without license?
Not a dumb question sir. What had happened was I paid a fine a few days late. I figured I was good to go. Penndot sent me a letter saying they wanted my license for 15 days. All my mail gets tossed aside at my house therefore I never got the letter. Got pulled over in October in Brentwood. Thats when I found out about it all. Thats what gave me the additional suspension. Hence no job. To answer your question anyway of what would be more important than work. Not sure. Bangin some skank I suppose.
u play u pay,been a man
And do we check the mail, now?
no lawyer at all i think you walk. i was in a similar situation as you.
I got a ticket sent to me in the mail. officer wrote it to the wrong address. totally screwed it up. I figured never got anything. needless to say, never plead so i was guilty. a year goes by, i get pulled over for something stupid like burned out tail light. Runs my liscense, it is now under suspension. Officer asks me if i now why, i have no clue. Cop should have took me in, yet let me go an told me to take care of it.
Next day, im at the court house paying past due fines of 150 bucks after fees. then im going to aaa to pay them to reinstate my liscense i never lost, yet should have.
as for the ticket i got when i was pulled over and “deemed” to have been driving w/o a license-- judge threw it out. all he asked me when i came into the court room was did i take care of everything, did i have a license today (day of hearing), and he tossed it out.
HAHA. Yes I do.
I actually tried that at the magistrate. Took care of all fines and everything before that hearing. Magistrate was a dick and wouldn’t help me out. The appeal is going downtown and since it is my last shot I didn’t want to chance it on my own. Every lawyer I talk to said there is a good chance of winning since there was no serious violations like a DUI or anything. The only problem is getting the cash for one. I had someone email me about the focus tonight so hopefully that will go this week. That would be the ultimate. Get rid of the car I don’t like and have money to get my license back and buy an new toy for the summer. We’ll see. April 22 is judgement day.
Just another opinion, I got a lot of them, but to me it would look like you might be trying to get away with something if you show up with a lawyer. If you are there pleding you case, on your own behalf, I feel it looks more honest.
And how can they prove you got the letter asking for you license for 15 days anyhow?
Unfortunately they don’t really have to “prove” that you received the letter.
Lol. Nope. They don’t have to prove shit. I think the lawyer is the right move. I have seen some pretty amazing things from good lawyers.
Waive your hearing to downtown @ the courthouse…
It is at the courthouse. Already had the one at the magistrate.
Ok so I have an attorney. Her name is Suzanne Ruschak. Supposed to be pretty good. She seems confident. So we’ll see what happens. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I’ll post the outcome next week.
