Need advice, complicated matter

Ok heres the run down, my grandmother died last week and left my dad the executaor of her will…
Now the original copy of the will is “missing”, the attorney who drafted it retired and left it with his parter, who retired and left it with someone else, who retired and left it with someone we are having a hard time tracking down.
It was not filed at city hall.
My dad cannot proceed with her wishes until the original is found and compared against the copies we have in our possession…
In the mean time my dads brother and sister have been trying to get my father removed from execuator because they do not feel he will honor my grandmothers wishes (which he is legally bound to do and will do).
Upon checking on her house (turning lights on, adjusting the heat ect) we noticed someone had been in the house and had been going through things…
So my dad called a locksmith and had the locks changed.
His brother went down to the house, found the locks changed and called the police, the police told him my dad is in charge theres nothing he can do…
So at that point he threatned to show up at the wake and punch my dad out as well as pass out flyers at the wake telling people what an “underhanded” guy my dad is…
The police were notified of these threats as well as no one but my father, my mother or me was to be on her property…

fast forward a few days to today, my mom stopped down at the house and found all the locks on all 3 doors appeared to have had some sort of black substance sprayed onto them as well as the fact the key will no longer fit into the lock…

The police have again been notified but theres no proof as to who did it

My question is, A- is there anyway of undoing the damage to the locks short of replacing them? and B- short of having video survalience or someone sit there 24/7 what are some good ideas to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks in advance

You have a bigger problem. Your family is fucked. (I’m not speaking on behalf of your parents because I don’t know but the rest of your family is definitely fucked.)

Armored guard bears?

Yeah really…your bigger problem is when adults act like children and cannot just be civil in a time that should bring a family closer together and recount all of the good times they had with your grandmother.

Shit like this makes me angry.

wow

Go and spray rubber in their door locks.

im gonna guess if multiple brothers and sisters think your dad is scum he prob is

sorry about your dad

Is she a millionaire and stored is in cash in the attic? Does she have dirt on your family members hidden in the house? Something is in there that they don’t want people to know about, or want to keep for themselves.

Pretty much you are fucked, you could always sleep in her house yourself and call the cops when the family tries to break in. Sounds like your family doesn’t trust your dad. Is there a reason he isn’t liked/trusted?

same sorta shit happened to mine… except my aunt forced my grandmother to change her will as she was on her deathbed… severely into her favor… quite an issue… 3 years later nothing is cleared up yet.

Good luck… sucks you have to be on the “bad” end… but the problem doesn’t seem to be on your side.

Word. Not everyone is making this up and willing to print flyers for no reason other than a good one.

You can pound the locks out with a sledge, or get in the house threw an accessable window and change the locks again then have someone stay at the house, put a security system on the house with motion sensing lights. Or for a fee I will sit on the house during the night, and keep watch, and make sure nothing happens during the night hours. Not many people do anything in broad daylight

the bottom line is my grandma has a little handwritten non notorized paper that contains little things like her house and car…
They want him removed so they will get those (in the begining he said he would honor it non binding or not but now he wants it sold and split 3 ways)

Its just one brother and one sister

His brother btw didnt even attend his own mothers wake because he considers it “ghoulish”

And as someone eluded we have no idea whats in the house, could be anything, they seem to want it pretty bad though as they were talking about the will before she died and was on her death bed in the hospital…

And lastly I will fully admit they are fucked and I am making a clean break from all of them except my mom and dad when this is done

:ham:

I can get you set up with ADT if that is the route you are looking to take.

I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother man, that really sucks. You should advise your dad that there is nothing in the house worth going through all that. Even if your family isn’t close, that is the kind of stuff that will fuck up a family forever.

You could try the courthouse in the town or village where your grandmother’s house is.

setup a video camera. you are going to have to catch them in the act. Change the locks and they will do it again. That will get costly after a few rounds. Thats gay as hell man. Sorry about grandma too

thanks everyone for the condolonces

what I am thinking at this point is she has a storm door in front of her main door, I am thinking I can get the deadbolt on the main door replaced and then use the storm door to “protect” it

I figure a latch with a pad lock drilled into the storm door will keep them away from the main door and if they fuck that lock up its $5 vs $30+ for a new deadbolt
Plus since the cops are keeping an eye on the house I doubt they will want to sit there and fart around with getting the padlock off to screw around with the main door…

Its worth a try

and as far as the money, sadly all this bullshit will be charged towards her estate

No one in my immediate family is going to see any of that but if the rest of the family keeps screwing around with shit (locks, lawyers ect) they wont have much left either
