Need GOOD TIG welder for cage...

doesnt n20junkie weld? he was going to weld something on one of my old bikes, which needed to be done with a tig

in the interest of saving time, and more importantly money i went with a wolfe pre-bent kit. i actually liked the look of the kit (mainly the main hoop). i dont like when the main hoop is plain and straight in these cars.

the kit actually took a bit of modification to get it to fit right. i needed to modify the main hoop to lean it back more, which in turn required renotching the side bars, but nbd. the rear bars (and main hoop for that matter) weren’t broke symmetrically, which i’m pretty anal about, so those took a little modification. the main hoop is also noticably closer to the driver side wall, which requires me to have the driver side sail panel plastic in before i final weld the cage in. so if i ever need to take that plastic out, i might be in trouble

ya, that’s really common about the main hoops. they say its from shipping, I wasn’t sure about that one? Nicks said there all like that, and you have to straiten them out. My one side was 90* the other was more then 90*. How far back could you put the hoop for that guy needing room to weld it. Its tight, lol The bolt in worlfe I had, the hoop was back alot more.
cool you got that done, you know what color your going with? I’m gona go with a matching interior gray, over the black. I have a folder of pics different colors in Fbodys if you’d like to see any of them, it blends in nice.

ya i just final welded the cage in. i just had it tacked to the floor for the TIG work on the hoop, because i needed to break it off to do the plastics yet and some paint. when i went to final tack/weld it in, it was REALLLLLY effin with my eyes and i was about to lose it. it’s not 100% perfect, but i think it’s about as close as im going to get it. i highly doubt anybody would ever catch it just by looking at it. but it still pisses me off

for paint, i’m probably going to be kicking myself in the ass later because of this, but im going to be spraying some form of satin black to it in the booth with the gun. i’m dead set on that color, i really like the way it looks (dick harrell/berger cars). unfortunately it wont be as durable as i’d like, like a POR 15 would be. but between my recent shitty experience with POR 15 and the fact that i dont want any gloss to the cage, it can go fuck itself :lol:

por15 works great if you use it properly.

I used rustoleum and color matched it to the interior, painted with a brush. I didn’t want to get over spray all over from the rattle can.

I tig welded John’s manifold, newmans’s manifold, garys charge pipes, intake manifold,gary’s exhaust, FairgentlemanZ’s cage,ect,ect,ect and alot of other fab/welding work on nyspeeder’s cars. I would be willing to take a look at the job.
