Need Help Installing Deck (Butchered Wires) and Spark Plugs

lol ok i need help installing a deck cus the wires are butchered and i also need help installing new spark plugs and possibly an oil change :stuck_out_tongue: Pleeeease help! lolz :albino:

ok, when i bought my 240, the guy before me got his installed pro. so all wires and everything were already in my car when i got it all i had to do was drop my 12ā€™s in and go(deck in the car was mine, sold it to himā€¦ etc long storyā€¦ deck came witht he car) but i have installed a few decks in other peoples cars. i aways hook power to the deck, red to positive(ur deck has a fuse, but i like to put one in anyways), black to neg, iā€™m gonna assume u know the basicā€™s. start it up play a cd and just touch wires to wires till you find the speaker, from there figure would wich wires are for which speaker and hook it up. amps and subs are something else.

spark plugs, just use a spark plug socket or itā€™s a 1/4 socket( not to sure). take off the plug wires put socket on spark plug, turn. lefty loosy right tighy u should know this! carefully line the new plug up in the hole and with ur hands(highly recommended) turn it till its tight, then give it a 1/4 or so turn till itā€™s tight, but not to tight!. put the proper wires back on the plugs, label them if u must!

oil changeā€¦ put ur car on ramps if u have, block the back tiresā€¦ if not then get underneather and take off the drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan, make sure u have something to let the oil drain into. i like to put a litre of oil in the top once all the old oil is done draining to flush out some of the remaining old oil left in the motor, while that is going on, you can find the oil filter on the passenger side of the motor, turn that off, oil will come out when u loosen it. when you put the new oil filter back on, make sure to put some oil in the filter itself and around the rubber ring on top. when you tighten the filter, donā€™t tighten it to much. just go hand tight and a little more, make sure its on good, but not to much or you will have a hard time taking it off next time. iā€™m not sure how much oil you will need to fill the motor back up, a good start would be 3 litres, clean your oil dip stick off and check it. if you canā€™t see any, add another liter and check again. add till itā€™s full. you can ask the guy at the parts store when u get ur oil and filter. he should be able to tell you.

lol thanks for the info darksideā€¦Yes, Iā€™m aware these are basic installations and such but Iā€™m a noobie when it comes to cars, so any help is much appreciated!

make sure u dotn doubl gasket the oil fiter.

Just go get it installed by a profesional.

There done.

you could do that, it is alot simpler, and itā€™s gonna be done right. but that would take the fun outa own a car, and for someone who donā€™t know anything about cars, itā€™s a good start. itā€™s ppl like that guy that take the fun out of owning a car. i like working on my car, and i bet she will to! my suggestion, read up on ur car and your motor if you wanna know more and learn how to fix it, you cant properly fix it till you know what it is ur fixing.

Yeah, Iā€™m aware I could just go to a shop and get it done ā€œprofessionalyā€ and pay out of my a$$, but like darkside stated, that would take the fun and ā€œpersonal touchā€ out of it :stuck_out_tongue: Iā€™m also VERY aware that Iā€™m a noobie when it comes to DIYā€™s but Iā€™m willing to learn, try (possibly fail and try again :P) and get my hands dirty as I would eventually like to do most of the general maintenances myself. With that being said, I appreciate the positive comments and any anymore advice would be appreciated! And to darkside, will do on the reading up, Iā€™ve already started

has everything you will ever need to know, itā€™s kinda hard to figure out where what ur looking for is, but itā€™ll be in there somewhere!

take a pic of the butcher wiring. check if you have the plugs, if you donā€™t goto maybe a junk yard and grab one. than drop by downtown toronto and i can help you.

Dont bother taking it to fs or bb. Why not just learn and do it by yourself for the first time? Its worth it.
