Need Help: Integra Stumbles when accelerating on highway

ok, this just started happening on my integra 4 days ago.

The car starts up and drives fine. When I get on the highway and get up to speed (60-70mph) it is fine. When I go to accelerate from there to pass someone, it seems to stumple for a little bit, then it will pick up and accelerate like normal.

Now this mostly happens when in 5th gear, but did happen in 3rd a couple times. I believe all times it’s around 3000-3500 rpms when it happens, so it might be something with it foing into open loop possibly.

Here’s some facts:

Car usually sits overnight first.
1/2 tank of gas or better.
Can of dry gas added already.
Plugs, wires, cap, primary O2, and fuel lines already replaced within the last year. Possibly fuel filter too.
NO check engine light or other lights.
Can downshift to 4th and it will accelerate just fine.
Timing belt, water pump, tensioner, valve adjustment done within the last 2 months.
All fluids look fine and are at the proper level.

Also of note, I have noticed that when idling, I will sometimes be around 800-1000 rpm, but when i press on the brake, the idle will drop to 400-600 and seem like it wants to stall. Not sure if this is related or a sign of a vacuum leak.

I also grabbed some seafoam to clean the intake as I was told when i got it inspected that i should probably have the intake cleaned. I have not done this yet as I wasn’t sure what the recommended location for adding it was.

Hopefully someone can help with this.

sounds like a vacuum leak…pressing on the brake should INCREASE your rpms

Ok, also to add, this seems to only occur when it is wet out.

you have water in your dizzy cap…pick up someones dizzy swap it out for a day see if it still happens …should fix it…if not post up and let us know there is a few other things it could be…i have a whole 94 interga for parts if you need things pm me

water is definitely affecting an electrical connection somewhere.

I had the same trouble last summer and it turned out to be my plug wires. Now I know you said that was already done within the year, but mine were just over a year old as well. I ended up changing my plugs and wires again and it fixed the problem. Check those if you havn’t already, as well as your distributer, cap and rotor. You should find your problem somewhere in these areas.

check the basics but it could also be a plugged egr valve or port.

I would hope that it’s not the cap or wires cause they were replaced under warrenty at Holtz Acura in Rochester.

I will be checking the basics out tonorrow when I can get into the garage at my parents (currently a 99 hatch jackstand queen and a motor-less 99 SI taking up garage space at my gf’s.)

How would I check the EGR Port?

And what’s the best way to seafoam it? Someone said use the brake booster vac line, but I also read that it is not recommended.

well if it was done at the dealership i’m sure that the oem parts are fine. I used cheap wires and look where it got me. Still check just for the sake of trouble shooting.
