Hey, im new to this site… but i have a 86 GN, i have a hard start problem … ive replace almost everything that i could think of, the motor is new with not alot of miles on it … ive posted on both of the boards asking for help but i have been able to get anywhere…
anyone on here good with troubleshooting TR’s??, i am wondering if someone could stop by my house and help me out or give a direction to go in on whats wrong with it … i live in shaler so its not far from downtown. Here is what i replaced so far… swapped pcm’s, cam sensor, crank sensor, plugs, wires, coil pack, ignition module, Maf, fuel pump and filter. And heres what my cars … cranks and wants to start but doesn’t. I have plenty of fuel psi, i have spark and injector pulse. i have set the cam sensor a few times following procedure on gnttype.org…
Thanks,
Bryan

dont no if this will help ya but here it goes! i had 2 problems wit mine before. the first time i had fuel spark…etc.but on my hotwire kit a relay went bad replaced and it fired up.when it did the same thing the second time i had fuel spark etc.couldnt figure it out so i had it towed out to shawn and it was a bad ecm (computer).just a try but give shawn a call he will help you out lata greg
i have replaced just about every sensor already. i am thinking maybe i have possible burnt up my rings doing this motor didn’t get broken in to long before i started having my problems. heres what ive done trying to get this so far… new fuelpump, all relays, fuel filter, crank sensor, cam sensor, maf, swapped ecms, ignition module, coil pack, 3 sets of plugs already, and wires. i have spark, injector pulse and plenty of fuel pressure. compression was at around 120 on all cyclinders last time i check… (this has .030 over trw’s to. i don’t know if it should be higher or not. but when i crank it i am getting black/blueish smoke coming out the exhaust and through the breathers on the valve covers. and i can smell gas in my oil when pull the dipstick… thanks for the input.
If you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, I would try setting the fuel pressure at 16 to 20 psi just to see if the motor fires. Then I would take a look at the voltage on the TPS, should be .4 to .45 at idle. I had a similiar problem, TPS was shot.
