apparently the tech section is not working do to the fact ive been waiting 3 days for my post to show up. mods move this where it belongs if need be but i just need to get my question out there so im putting it here thanks!!!
ok so i have a 95 dx auto hatch as a DD. the auto trans is on the fritz and im going to be swapping the car to a 5-speed to bump up the MPG. so i have a couple questions about the swap.
will i need to change to a standard ecu or will the auto ecu still function properly?
does anyone know whats the better choice to get better gas milage out of using a vx/cx trans or dx/lx. i know the vx/cx are fuel sippers but wasnt sure if its better on gas then the dx/lx being linked up to a dx engine
your going to need to get a manual trans ecu, cx/vx trans is getter on gas ive had all style d series trans and cx/vx trans are deff better on gas, what motor do you have i might have a left over ecu some where that i’ll sell you in case if you need it for your 5 speed manual swap. even if you want you can take your ecu to innovative tuning on hinman in buffalo ny and they can chip your ecu and add a base map for about 100 bucks or so…
its a stock 95 dx motor… wasnt sure how the torgue curve of the dx would be on gas with the vx/cx gearing or if it would come close to the 50+ mpg of a actual vx hatch
you dont need a manual ecu. all the auto one will do is throw a code, but it WILL run perfectly. the vx/cx trans will be better on gas, but you will hate life. since this is in the classifieds, i have no problem whoring… i have a 96 dx trans for sale, cheap. $60, get it out of my garage.
