i’ve used and abused caa a lot to tow cars. they only tow if your car is “broken down” but as long as they think it is then you’re fine, just make sure they think it’s something major that’s wrong otherwise they’ll want to try to boost your battery first. the plates have to have a valid sticker on them and i’ve only had one guy check to see if the plates match the car (out of about 20-25 tows between my friends and i), luckily the plates matched that time.
don’t act sketchy otherwise they might try to check up on the situation (i.e. see if plates match the car, etc)
good luck.

Also depends on the driver…Some are paid hourly and will bitch and not tow your car…the ones who are payed by the load will more than likley tow it regardless…otherwise they just wasted their time booting over to help you out.
depends on the distance… I remember them telling me the 200km tow doesn’t come into effect till after 7 days of being a member might be more days I don’t remember. You do have the 20km tow I think right away tho.
So if your planning to tow it more than 20km you better start up the membership now so the 200km towing distance kicks in.
^that is correct, you only have like a 20km tow for the first week.
lol. i remember my car sat at black creek pioneer village cause i only had the 20km tow so i had to leave it there for 7 days.
otherwise its like 50 cents or something per km.
i was towed recently cause my tie rod broke while i was turning… i have a CAA membership that was entitled to 4 free service calls and free towing within 10k… and then like $2 per extra km or something… thats about as much as i know
after a drive shaft blowing up and numorus brake failures and a tranny later my mom bought me a caa card and said “your going to need this.”
havent used it since.
but i did get one of my cars towed from sagga to past oshawa with caa. all free. and the driver came around the corrner as i was putting the plates on… he knew it wasent the car on the card and said he couldent do it…
20 bcuks later
i was at my house with my new car.
I just bought a truck yesterday and had it towed by CAA after a service truck came and knew it hadnt run in a few years. Truck plates only have 6 digits vs 7 and the tags were wayy out dated. When the service guy was there my friend was handing me the signed ownership and bill of sale…lol. My card so far has worked every time and ive used it now about 1/2 a dozen maybe more times.
OOo I love CAA… ive used It alot when I had my eclipse GSX I was st.thomas drag strip and tore the teeth off 3rd gear so i couldent drive home. Caa came and got me with a flat bed no questions asked. Ive even used buddies numbers when my 3 ran out. haha… But since Ive owned My nissan. Ive never needed it lol…
but simplemind7 is right on for what he said
ive never had to use my card with my car but ivre used it for friends twice. not even my car or plates they jsut put it on the truck and towed it home…from cayuga to keswick where i live…about 3 hours…lol all free …glad ive never had to use it though
