I have no clue what to do with this s13. It was given to me and I’ve been working on it for about 3 weeks. The engine has about 150k on it and after alot of cleaning and tuning it seems to work fine. The tranny also seems to work but I couldn’t get it off my road since the brake lines are rusted and it was leaking, haven’t had time to fix them yet.
I’d put alot of money in it, the engine, fix brakes and everyhing but I don’t know what to do about the damn rust. I can’t tell if it has gotten too deep or if it’s still repairable. I talked to a friend that has a welder and everything we need to fix it up.
Another thing is safety, I don’t honestly care but it wont pass safety, I looked at my dad’s new Camry and they wouldn’t let it pass safety because a light bulb was dead. There’s no E test in quebec so that doesn’t even matter.
Here I uploaded pictures and a short movie of the engine running (cold)…
Yes, I did take the fan off for now, I did make my own ignition wires.
My camera can’t focus anymore, sorry… I’ll use anotherone next time.
Should I buy a shell, or a car with a dead engine or tranny… Or sell it for parts? I do want a drivable 240sx… Problem with that is, I don’t have a garage or a real place to work on it, I’ve been driving my neighbors nuts in the driveway for these past 3 weeks, they haven’t complained but I can tell they don’t like the gas and exhaust fumes in their back yard.
Its just the thin metal that seems to be rusted, the actual chassis seems to hold.
The paint is… not paint, I have no clue what it has on it, but under the paint, in places where you don’t see bubbles or rust, there isn’t rust, there’s alot of oil, WD40 and gas stains.
I added a few focused pics… the ones that start in 334…
What if I put a few hundred bucks to fix it up a little so It can go on the road (brakes, tires… a little body) and it’ll be my first car when I get my lisence next summer. Do you think it would be worth it? I’m gonna put it up on some ramps and take a GOOD look underneath it, from what i’ve seen the floor isn’t rusted that much.
