Is this auto worth it?

Heres the deal, ive decided to FINALLY join your community and get myself a 240sx (honestly ive stared at the one parked up the street when i go by it for at least 3 years). So ive found myself a supposidly “mint” one neerby (still have yet to take a look, pics look promising), however its automatic.
I’m not gonna lie, i have no experience driving standard other than a peppy '02 mazda that i could never work out… so what i was thinking is, getting this thing for maybe 3g’s, (he wants 3500… but its got 211xxx on it with a 80xxx ka/de) and maybe getting somebody with experience to swap me in a 5spd. I need to learn how to drive stick someday…

any thaughts? (is the price right? since its auto)
does anyone know somone in the hamilton area who can swap it for me?

thanks

You don’t need to learn 5 speed, it’s not needed to drive.

It’s not worth it unless there is no rust at all on it.

forgot to mention, i actually wanna learn to drive manual. I’ve only owned auto cars, and it looks a lot more fun driving standard…

Depending on how mint it is.its worth it…alot of Auto 240 S13 anyways are usually better shape. i bought mine auto and did a 5 speed swap…loved it …if your going to do an SR swap though, just do it all at once…

ihad a 92 hatch mint body neded a patch on the frame but it was a great start what year is it s14(95 on) or s13(89,94)?

its a s13, '92

older couple supposidly owned it before this guy, said they really took great care of it. I would be the 4th owner

any tips on some commonly overlooked spots for rust? i know its got a spoiler so ill be sure to check there.

under the spoiler, the welf on the rocker panel just under the door, the rear fenders, the frame, the trunk floor (just lift up the carpet), the strut towers and the engine walls.

is it a coupe or a hatch

its a hatch

i guess it’s fine considering it has a newer KA24 unless there is major rust on the body

look underneath!! esp drivers side. just take a peek behind the wheel wells, if u see holes walk away immediately.

the floor around seat mounts and where the rear pass feet would be also u can get a nice s13 stick for 3-3500.

ya i was thinkin about doin that… im keepin an eye out for any in that range. thing is they’re taken too damn quickly, lol

is 211,000 kms on a s13 reasonable? ive heard these things are good well into the 300 range, depending on its history of course

honestly…

just buy a 5-speed. That way if you wanna drive your car you have no choice but to learn.

and if you end up somehow frying your clutch, take the money that you would have spent on a 5-speed swap and buy a nice new clutch and some other goodies!

or put it toward a motor swap or w/e

hey brother im in hamilton also, i am doing my MT swap this month i can help you out yours if you get the auto

man you’d be my hero. ever done it before?

what color is it ?

Worth it… IMO

I bought my '90 for $500. Rusty-holed rockers (both sides), rust on shock towers and rust on rear 1/4 panels, driver’s rear even had a dent.

Rusty as fsck, only had one brake caliper working on it, engine blew few weeks after I bought it, automatic, bad paint, 3 different keys, hatch rusted, electrical problems with 3rd brake light and rear wiper, vandalized a few weeks ago, steering rack jitters on cold starts, etc.

I’ve put over $1800 into it already and its only got front brakes (all brand new though), 90k KA (still being swapped). Thats about it, I haven’t even gotten around to any other shiz…

and that is why it’s not worth the time and money

yea, it might have just been better to buy a 2300 car.
