Moral of the story, like TB said, follow anyone who hits you until they pull over and call the police while you’re following them.

i did this once, and i saw where the guy pulled into his own driveway. So i parked on the side of the road until the cop showed up. I explained what happened, the other guy denied it, then the cop said following this guy to his home was considered aggravated harassment (even though i said it was a hit and run, and all i did was calmly follow him). He then said i should have called the police right away. I said I did, at which point he asked to see my headset for my cell phone…i said I used speakerphone… the officer said that’s just my word against his, and that I could be in all sorts of trouble if paperwork is to be filed. I said this is fucking bullshit, forget it, and left…
Maybe I just had a dickhead cop though.

At this point it doesn’t matter if someone does find the car. How many 80’s oldsmobiles/crown vics out there don’t have some front end damage? The police aren’t going to come out and try to match paint or anything like that over a minor property damage hit and run.

This is why I now hit the voice record on my phone when ever I have to deal with the police. The local news would love crawling up some patrol cops ass looking for an explanation why a hit and run victim is made out to be the bad guy.

That sounds like a dick cop.I was standing outside with my buddy and we seen a truck clip his car.I chased on foot and seen what road he went down.We went cruising around and we found the truck in a driveway still warm with paint marks on it.Guy denied it until the cop showed him the paint marks.My buddy got it all sorted out from there.

Id probably would have came back to get even if i knew where he lived but thats just me.:gotme:

Got backed in to in my Grand am a few weeks back, and lady drove off while I was sleeping in the car.
I would’ve chased after her, but I was all woozy from just waking up, by being hit by a car. lol.
Got her plate number, but like that did me much good? Since I couldn’t prove it.
Fucking dishonest assholes.

p.s. I record all shit on my iphone, sales/police/auto salesmen… etc…
I didn’t know you can get arrested for it, haha.
I thought it was legal if one person consented to it. Which, I did :]

I really don’t know why cops don’t understand why people run. All they have to do is read this thread and they’ll realize you’re better off running than being honest and sticking around.

edit And no, I wasn’t saying you really should run. When I fuck up, I stick around but I understand fully why people run.

micah–go back into the Tops, and talk to the store manager and see if they have their lot cameras pointed towards the street. They should have all the tapes saved for at least 30 days. If they do have a video, it will give a better look at the type of car at least. Don’t get your hopes up though.

unless i read the article wrong the case was dropped. my guess is that kid was being a ass hole and the cop decided to have a hard on and return the favor.
