Today, my transfercase arrived, so the guys at STM started pulling my broken parts out. The transfercase was easy to remove, since it already split itself into 2 pieces:
This was already known, hence, I purchased a new transfercase. What was not known was the fact that it took out the transmission too!!! Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck. It blew an ear off of the case, and stripped off some teeth on the shaft going into the tranny. I don’t know what to do now, but it won’t be up in the next few days. I contacted Jarrod @ Buschur Racing this morning to see if they had any spare transmission cases. I may be able to salvage the tranny parts in a new case, but I am not sure yet. This is a sad day for Lana though
That tranny was mint, and the best one I have ever had. I am totally bummed about this.

That sucks about the transfer case.
I haven’t kept up on this build but I saw a short conversaion about the HVAC/Climate Controls…did you ever solve that? You can rig the control knobs to be other switches. Maybe Fuel Pump, Nitrous, etc… I could even make you a replacement “HVAC” cover plate that would still look OEM but would have different wording to it. Let me know your thoughts. If you feel like pursuing it let me know.

We could still use the OEM Knobs and rotary switches…It would look stock from afar but up close it could be something oh so different and functional. Plus lighter.
So, after a bunch of bullshit, I finally have a new transmission and transfercase coming from NYC this week. I can’t believe it’s been over 2 months now since I drove this car, ugh!
Might as well buy another one tomorrow.

It was a built transmission and a built transfercase. The parts going in this weekend (hopefully) are just stock, low mileage parts.
Oh okay I missed that they were Buschur. Sometimes you can have better luck with stock, sometimes.
Heh, I am pretty sure the shimmed and upgraded parts are better, but I don’t want to wait for that to be re-built, so in the meantime I am buying a replacement. I won’t race with the stock parts in there. I met my goal for this year, so I am happy enough!
