Some updates for you all. First off, I still don’t have a transfercase back from TRE yet, but that’s OK. I have been spending time doing little things. Sorry for the horrible photos, but I filled the gauge pod hole with a factory radio blank, and then replaced the factory steering wheel with a Sparco Lap 5 wheel and a new hub for it:
Then, as I talked about before, I want to relocate the fuse block under the hood to under the dash, after removing “most” of the wiring, all of which I do not need. Here is what I am talking about:
I pulled the cover off, and it shows what they are all for, even though it is not too specific, this gives me the main idea:
So from here, I was able to pull out a total of 13 fuses and relays so far. These were for things such as the horn, radiator fan, high beams, a/c, etc… I kept testing other items to see if they are shared, and so far so good. I still have head lights, brake lights, blinkers, interior dome light, and the cluster lights up as well as the fuel pump, so we are good so far {thumbup}
This may seem meaningless, but it’s actually quite significant. With the fuses and relays gone, I can verify that I do not need that wiring, so the next step will be to de-pin the wires form the relay box itself and remove them completely from the system. This will greatly cut down on the number of wires I need to lengthen, to move the fuse box into the cabin of the car. By looking at this, I am confident that I can remove 75% of the wiring!
After I get this under control, I can attack the wiring in the car for more weight reduction. The reason for doing this under the hood though is mostly for appearance. I have yet to see an Evo that has the fuse block completely eliminated under the hood, so this will look sleek!!
