Neonglh's new project - 2006 Evo drag car, "Lana"

Fuck yeah, today is a good day, would have been a great day, but we are waiting on a new throw out bearing. Anyways, the fuel system showed up, and like everything else, Mike @ AWDMotorsports did a great job putting it together

Cory got the motor in, set the transfercase in place, and is waiting for a throw out bearing now before the tranny can be bolted up. The Exedy triple clutch is all bolted up and ready to go, and I assume while we wait, we can figure out some of the other things like coolant system, etc…

Good stuff!

The fuel system is perfect, other than the tank is too small for driving on the street. It is only 4 gallons, so with 1600cc injectors running E85, it just won’t cut it for more than making passes at the track.

On Tuesday, the rest of it will show up, including the under the hood lines and the 1:1 FPR and gauge. This is great

And, Emery just called me and they are putting on the manifold, turbo, vacuum lines, and boost controller as we speak. Burnouts coming soon!

:tspry:

so is stm doing everything?

A lot of it, yeah! I trust them with my car completely. I obviously do my own work too, as shown by all of the other cars I’ve done over the years, but at this point, I would much rather pay them to install my parts for me

yea i was wondering if you had to pay them, or were kind of helping or whatever lol
are you trying for stock block/turbo record?

Went up to the shop today and installed the fuel system. The cell bolts to the spare tire area, and I thought it would be a good idea to space the back up a little bit more than the front, so that even when the car is not moving it still tips towards the pickup. Here are some pictures of the spacers that we were able to make with some aluminum tubing:

Then we went and installed the pump, the filters, the lines, and ran the lines and power cable up to the front of the car. The factory wire that turns on the factory fuel pump is used to flip the relay for the Weldon, so it works at key on, just like normal

Now, I came up with an idea to make the cell work for more than a few miles on the road. Basically, the foot print is perfect size, but it only holds 4 gallons, so I am going to have my buddy Dan cut the top off, use the break and cut some aluminum sides for it, and weld it back up about 8" taller or so. That should get me up to around 8 gallons, with the same foot print of a cell in the back. Excellent!

Yes, I am paying them, heh. And no, I am not going for any stock block records, in fact, I plan on building a motor as soon as I can afford to.

I will be trying to beat the stock turbo record, previously set by this car, but I will not be upset if I do not. When Brian set the record of 10.21 @ 133, it did not drive on the street, that was no headlight, lexan window, kill mode. I would be happy to beat that though, if possible!!

Whats that?

That’s when you say “fuck it, we’re gonna either go fast or blow up”. Strip everything out of the car, toss all the boost and timing at it that you think it can handle and drive the fuck out of it.

Here are some pictures of the new location of the electric water pump, and then the Hallman boost controller and radiator mounted up. We have to alter the lengths of the AN water lines since the water pump was moved about 4", but it’s in a much better location. Now it’s out of view so it looks better, and it’s easier to pull the tranny or anything really, since we won’t have to remove it to get to any parts.

 good progress mark!

Good Stuff as always! Still going to be ready by the 11th?

I hope so! Now is the point where we need something, have to order it, wait, etc… It should be VERY possible though! The tranny and everything will be in Tuesday, then we just need the exhaust and AEM, along with misc. stuff like the starter, etc…

What are you going to be running for exhaust?

Pretty sure we are going to modify an off-the-shelf down pipe with a v-band at the end, and a turn down for now. Then, since I have no fuel tank in the way, if I want a complete exhaust, I can add on a full aluminum exhaust via the vband on the downpipe, and just have it go absolutely straight back

Last year, Modern Automotive Performance hooked me up with their great o2 eliminating downpipe. It was one of their first downpipes of that kind, and it was 2.5" o2 housing bend, transition to 3" downpipe, and made of mild steel. After talking to Adam over there, they decided they wanted to help out on this build, and are hooking me up with their new version of the downpipe!

This one features a full 3" o2 housing bend, and is all stainless steel and tig welded. It is very pretty, so I am proud to use this part on Lana. Stay tuned for my review on this new downpipe, but expect some good numbers with it

i love map, mason gave me an almost 100$ discount on my turbo that i bought
huge  to them

Some huge updates for today. The shop got my fuel system finished being mounted under the hood, put the intake manifold on, finished up a bunch of wiring, made up a new aluminum charge pipe with the tial flange on it, and a bunch of little things. Here is how it sits as of tongiht:

Ordered up my Mivec AEM today, so, maybe a few more days to finish up parts and get her running. Woo woo!

Although the iPhone will not do it justice, I spent 4 hours detailing the car today. I started out with a bath, then went to the clay bar over the whole thing. There was a lot of rust-dust embedded into the paint, so that was pulled out. It went from rough and loud when you rubbed your fingers over it, to smooth as glass. I then went over it with a sealant, to protect the paint, and then used some good wax on things like the cf trunk. It looks amazing! I hope that I can keep it this clean now, but the hardest part is definitely done. I still have to do the bumpers and the hood, but tomorrow, for the open house, the hood and front bumper will be off of the car anyways, so no big deal

Im stoked for some numbers. When are you going to have it at the track?

Well, I hope to have it running this week, so if that happens, I may have it at the track opening day
