NETWORK EXCLUSIVE: Introducing Niagara Falls World of Motorsport!

… i don’t think that will help the situation… i personally laugh at most of the “street racers” in my city as a lot of it is retards making asses of themselves we all get a heavy foot every once in a while but if i had the choice and opportunity i would hit the track any day vs messing around on the streets

omfg. I can’t believe I just lost everything I was typing.

And again.

There was a lot of ignorance floating around from the people that are against the track proposal. The first speaker, Jan, a lawyer in NF, compared the 2 Niagara Region venues like “pro and semi pro hockey teams in the same town” and what was the reason for it. Where as the two focus on very different aspects of the world of motorsports, you could also say the arguement is more “Hockey vs Figure Skating” - both are done on ice, but that’s where the similarities end.

There was a woman behind me that was handing out petitions apparently, and was making quite rude and frankly stoooopid remarks, that made not one hint of sense. And the 2nd speaker started talking about sanctioning bodies that only visit the venue once per year… Sorry, but what does CASC-OR do, they run 5 weekends (maybe 6…) at Mosport EVERY YEAR, albeit under different club names and organizers, but they are still the sanctioning body.

… my car pulls to the right so it’d be useless on a nascar track anyways …
to tired to come up with a intelligent meaningful post at the moment
g’night all

Bing you looked pretty sharp tonight

can i argue with mikey???

not here in the gta it’s just like out of the fast and the furious and when the cops come you got 300+ cars running with no care for the cops, it’s a rush and lots of fun when you got 12 and 13 second cars that show up, but still i would rather have a nice real track to go too and get my 240 into some real racing but because of stupid old women it wont happen some please tell what the fuck these bitches were saying i so wish i was there i would have gave it to so many people like that bitch that got dunville shut down i would knock her to the ground and give her a smiley!

first time i’m using this

Sad this is that, at best, those guys that live on River rd pkwy (the lawyer and other gentleman) are 2.5km away from the track in a straight line, and that is as close as possible, directly down the road that is across from the proposed land.

I like turtles! Wood turtles are awesome, I just want to see one crying

Btw, in case you guys didn’t know, WWII is still ongoing, gotta be able to land B17’s somewhere in Ontario.

Oh and those of you who like sports, you are the reason Rome fell. And Canada shares many similarities with the Roman Empire, those of you who like sports should get real hobbies.

Fucking hell. The stupidity at this thing knew no bounds…

Yeah, I’ve got to agree that most of the comments that the “neighbors” were making did not have any sort of basis in fact. I’ve also got to say that the first opposition speaker (lawyer) that was at the podium reminded me of the public defender in My Cousin Vinny. He was one of the folks who really didn’t make a lot of sense, and if push came to shove, would not have the skills to oppose the project effectively.

However, the second gentleman who spoke made some pretty compelling remarks, and generally seemed to have his shit together. This is the guy who needs to be sold on the project, and that is going to be a tough sell. I’d be very curious of his 49 detailed points.

Anyway, it’s early, and I’m still waking up, but wanted to get a couple things written down while they were still fresh.

Bing, you did a great job up there. It’s a shame that the opposition, especially bass-pro-hat-guy who was standing near us, couldn’t give you the same courtesy that we gave the opposition. Those people, mostly that guy and his wife were downright rude duriong most of your presentation.

Please keep us posted on progress, and if I can help in any way, please let me know.

Enough.

It’s not a rush, it’s idiotic.
It’s people like you that make people that we were in that room with hate racing of any sort.

My head still hurts from this meeting.
All of the opposition with the exception of the second speaker seemed to be basing their arguments not on fact, study, or probabilities but rather hearsay and emotion. People are very narrow minded and fail to see outside of their irrational argument.

“If we build a track on the land it will not be able to be used as farm lands in the future” TWO SENTENCES LATER “We should build houses on that land” WELL IT IS ONE OR THE OTHER YOU DOUCHEBAG.

“If people stop moving into that area the tax revenue to the Region will decline” SELLING TICKETS THAT INCLUDE TAX AND RENTING A TRACK OUT = REVENUE FOR THE REGION UGHHH

“I like wood turtles, I have never seen an endangered wood turtle, but I really want to”
HERE IS A FUCKING WOOD TURTLE YOU LITTLE BITCH, IT IS UGLY AND LIVES ELSEWHERE. MAYBE YOU SHOULD MOVE TO VIRGINIA OR QUEBEC WHERE THEY ARE PROMINENT! DO AS ONE OF YOUR FELLOW IDIOT SPEAKERS DID AND USE GOOGLE TO RESEARCH YOUR INVALID ARGUMENTS.
http://www.rom.on.ca/ontario/images/risk/photos/ff-95.gif http://www.rom.on.ca/ontario/images/risk/maps/on-95glin.gif

“I live 6 KM away from the track and I am afraid that the noise will carry over 20 KM affecting my house and my little town” IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF THE NOISE, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO IF THE OTHER TRACK OPENS? IT IS ONLY 11 KM AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE. YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.

“This is still an active airport in my old pilots manual (AFTER WE SAID THAT THE AIRPORT WILL STILL FUNCTION!) I would not want to see a historic landing strip from WWII shut down” “Where are we going to land our B17’s, Personally I wouldn’t land a jet on the new runway. I am a jet guy but you prop guys are ok in my book too” WTF? I AM NOT SURE IF YOU ARE EVEN ALIVE OR I WAS JUST MAKING YOU UP AS I WAS SO MENTALLY FRIED BY YOUR FRIENDS. IF YOU ARE STILL ALIVE, DO US A FAVOR… I MEAN REALLY? WOULD YOU LAND A JET THERE NOW? IT IS A GRASS RUNWAY.

“I moved to Sodham rd for peace and quiet in the country” NO DICK, YOU WANTED PEACE AND QUIET, BUT YOU WERE TOO POOR TO AFFORD A NICE PLACE IN THE COUNTRY SO YOU BOUGHT A HOUSE RIGHT NEXT TO THE FUCKING QEW. YOU LIVE 500 METERS FROM A MAJOR FUCKING HIGHWAY AND YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT A TRACK? PLEASE REATTACH THE WHEELS TO YOUR “HOUSE” AND DRIVE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

13yr. OLD BOY: “Animals are pretty. I moved to the countryside to see more animals. This track will make all of the nature go away and that is why we live there, for the animals” NO YOU DIDN’T MOVE TO THE COUNTRY. YOUR MOTHER AND FATHER MOVED TO THE COUNTRY. THEY WERE NICE ENOUGH TO LET YOU GO WITH THEM. I HOPE THAT THE 11yr. GIRL THAT WAS THERE BEATS YOU UP IN SCHOOL TODAY.

Bing: “I used to live in Niagara, I have since moved…” THAT WAS IT. THE REST OF THE ROOM STOPPED LISTENING, AND ONE LADY MADE IT A POINT TO TELL ME THAT ARE COMMENTS DIDN’T MATTER AS WE DIDN’T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THE NOISE. I SHOULD HAVE KICKED HER, BUT I JUST SAT AND IGNORED HER.

Restaurant Owner: “I am not here to make enemies, but this is a great idea… …I flip burgers for a living got a problem with that? Someone has to do it and I am not ashamed of my self” FUCK YOU ARE AWESOME!! IF I WAS ONE OF THE NEIGHBORS THAT SPOKE OUT, I WOULD BE AFRAID OF YOU AND YOUR ASSUMED RUSSIAN MAFIA FRIENDS.

Ok, writing this out eased some of the pressure on my brain. Now I can go have a productive day at work.

Did anyone record the meeting? Can we at least get a remix out of the deal?

It’s nice to see at least some locals supported the idea. I too would support the idea so long as it’s not within 5-10 miles of my house. I wish you the best trying to convince idiots like me to go with the flow.

I made it a point to contain my skepticism until after the meeting as not to discourage people from going, but what you saw is exactly why I didn’t go. People don’t want race tracks in their back yard no matter how little impact it will actually have on them or how much of a positive impact it will have on the region. That mass of opposition you saw are the people who pay taxes there and cast votes there. The zoning board is going to listen to them over any of us coming from a different COUNTRY regardless of how horribly presented their ideas are versus how well thought out our support is.

That’s how you build a new race track. What do you see around Calabogie? Right… NOTHING. They didn’t try building it on a highly populated peninsula filled with people. Instead they found a section of land no one cared about, built a road to it, then built a track. What’s around it for miles? A forest of trees… nature’s sound barrier.

And to jdm-only… You and street racers like you are the EXACT reason why race tracks have such a hard time getting built. Your immature and selfish actions in thinking you have a right to race are all the ammo anti-track activists need to recruit more people to their cause. You give auto enthusiasts a bad name and this whole “building a better online community” is a joke if owners of the site continue to allow people like you to be members.

Sounds like stupidity knows no borders…

tpgsr, are you serious, people actually said that shit? Woooooooow! I’m sad that I left early now ;(

My girlfriend made a great point while I was in there (maybe it was nick D though) “90% of the people in this room will be dead in ten years, why do they care?” and I told him “yeah that, or they will have retired to florida…”

Like that airport runs airshows during the summer, so the noise thing isn’t going to be much different… Spitfire sound> SG motorsports 350Z…

But your retorts up there gave me some great big lols right after waking up… thank you!

It’s the second speaker that I’m concerned about. Dude did a LOT of homework, and I, for one, would love to see his 49 points. As much as we want this to happen, I have a feeling that at least a few of them are quite valid.

That girl was great. She did a fantastic job. For those not there, she’s a junior dragster racer.

However, they do tend to listen to the noise that money makes. However, that being said, I think for this proposal to have a chance of getting off the ground, there needs to be a commitment from at least 2, maybe 3 larger sanctioning bodies to throw their support at it.

And while Calabogie looks great, perfect location for people to race, what facilities are nearby? This is one of the great selling points, at least from an “area” perspective. The hospitality infrastructure already exists nearby. I know this is an issue for a lot of tracks. I’ll use Pocono (oval/road course) and Summit Raceway (drag) as two perfect examples. Bring in a sizable event, and the scramble for lodging is ridiculous, with some folks driving 70+ miles in for a day or two day event.

I wish i would of came, i had to goto ajax last night. dammit.

^ it was me Dan … it was at that time we were starting to get a little bit immature and then we and than we left as to not cause any kind of scene, it is to bad we didn’t stay for the full thing it sounds like there was some great support

No offense Dylan but i think it would have been a shit storm had you shown … Remember the bitch in the versa lmao

Thanks to those who came out

No one ever wants anything in their backyard, but it’s part of the process to give the general public their say… as silly and misinformed as they are. I don’t think last night was enough to get the project scrapped as 90% of the public’s concerns have already been documented as to how they can and will be mitigated. The rest of the questions will be answered in due time, most of which could have been answered on the spot had their been a question and answer session.

If all oppositions always got their way, nothing would ever get built. This is no different.

Good point. Maybe they should throw it in the package with the Peace Bridge :stuck_out_tongue:
