NETWORK EXCLUSIVE: Introducing Niagara Falls World of Motorsport!

WoW this sucks. 2 reasons why i hate old farts. 1 they cant drive and 2 it must go there way or no way.

I was unable to attend due to other obligations at another race track. Those that did attend, and especially those that spoke up at the meeting should be commended. Thanks Guys

Like Jay S., I had my reservations and doubts for the same reasons he did, and from what I’m reading here, what I expected was pretty much what happened. Hopefully Onyx is right and the fact that many of the concerns that people had have already been identified along with solutions to mitigate the problems.

The real test now is will the city council take that list, be reasonable with some shred of common sense, and make a fair assessment. At the end of the day, money talks and the bullshit walks. If the money is there, it will happen. If the money is in the other court, then it won’t.

Having a track less than 30min. away would be great for anyome interested in motorsports at any level. I know personally for me, getting seat time would be way easier than what I currently have to do.

What really is a shame is that a lot of people on this board did a whole lot of talking when Dunville went down. A lot of lip service about if we could get a track, they would show support. How is it that only 10(?) people showed up to this? This was the opportunity for NYSpeed (and the other boards) to step up. The vast majority of you did anything but. Wasn’t that the point of combining all the boards? Bigger voice? Bigger weiight? What happened?

Sad, yet predictable.

We had 3 guys from Function show up, 3-4 SON guys and 6 NYspeeders plus myself as far as i know…

If there is another meeting of this sort we will need to triple those numbers at least to have any impact.

A major point of contention here is the “who will come to this venue” because there are no confirmed events. We need to show and and stated clearly and decisively that we will come, just as we went to dunnville. I did state quite clearly that our group had brought hundreds upon thousands of people to dunnville over the years and to our other events here and there and that we are looking forward to hosting events at the proposed venue… CSCS provided a letter of support which i submitted and we also had a letter from the Basil Automotive group of WNY that i read to the chamber.

We need more people to confirm future attendence so that the city can have something to fall back on. It isnt enough to have a willing investor and an eager land owner.

Bing…quick question. The woman who spoke second, meaning the town official, she mentioned being able to email comments about the proposal. Do you happen to have this contact information?

The reporter for the Niagara Falls Review has published his article on the meeting:

Did the Region request a Noise Study or a Traffic Impact Study for the site?? I assume if they are planning to be built out by the end of 2010 then it must have been done. If not we do those studies at my Firm.

I dunno how that guy thinks that the sound will travel 5 – 6 kms to his house. My mom lives at around 4 kilometres from exhibition and you can’t hear the Indy cars in the summer. AND they’re INDY CARS.

All of the studies have been completed and stamped off by the Region planning board. People were bitching about things without knowing or reviewing all of the facts.

Truth.

Still…I’d love to see the second speaker’s 49 points.

I have to deal with bullshit like this every day. Fucking ‘NIMBY’ bullshit. There is always someone that has a problem with every development. If the required studies have proven that this development will not impact the surrounding area in the various ways of concern then SHUT THE FUCK UP. People pick apart the studies when they don’t even know 10% of what is actually going on in the process of proving that there should be no concern. Read over the report take a fucking course to make sure you know what you’re talking about then come and bitch if you like. Don’t read a report on your tractor jump off and run over to city hall to try prove that PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS that studied these various professions in school for years were wrong.

I will be there

At the meeting last Wednesday?

 I swear NYSpeed gets worse and worse with reading comprehension each day.

awsome

You can count me in for the meeting last Wednesday too! … usually I’m busy during the week, but that’s only if it’s now or coming up soon. I definitely wont be busy last week.

what if i was already there… that means i would have been busy and couldnt show up again right?

I am almost done with the time machine so that we can go back and see if we can show up again.

It was great to meet you next week.

+1

Is there any news of progress on this?

We had to reschedule an update meeting but from what i understand they were required to do additional tests, sound / enviro etc. etc.

anecdotally, the city wants more attractions but the locals are NIMBY’s… nothing certain yet.

I did also hear, and long suspected, that the Middle-Eastern funding for the Fort Erie bid dried up. That bid is further along in the approval process but won’t matter unless they find major angel investors or get teh GOV to cough up a few hundred million for such an aggressive project.
