Well, I’ve decided to switch from the Audi scene & get myself a VW. I’ve always loved how the Mk4 GLI’s look so I just picked up a bone stock 04 GLI 6 speed. It’s a black magic with 35% tint all around and I absolutely could not be happier. Sadly it does not have the stock bbs rims so the fugly rims on it now will be gone before it is on the road. It has 3 small dents the size of a pen tip & a hair line crack on the front lip & a little scratch on the bumper. Nothing that is noticeable. Interior is beautiful. Zero stains, no rips, love it. The only mod it has are aftermarket HIDS & that is it. Everything else is 100% stock . So as of right now here are my plans for this car:
-Replace those ugly rims with something OEM (long beaches or r32 rims)
-Cold Air Intake
-APR R1 Diverter Valve (just installed)
-VOD POD Boost Gauge (awaiting install)
-Full exhaust
-Custom Tune with tt225 injectors that Nick has offered to create for me
-FMIC
Just going for a moddest build for now but who knows, if a frankenturbo happens to come up for sale for a decent price, don’t be surprised to see 1 end up in this car. Here’s a few crappy pics of it. It has some salt on it right now so once I get it clean & get rid of these ugly rims I’ll have some nice pics to post. Let me know what you guys think.
Get in line homie, Nick just DL’d my ecu last night on my 1.8T to get a def. file created to tune mine as well. The new software for these cars is going to be a big eye-opener for the VAG tuner scene.
If you need any help with the car and the mods, I had my hands on, in and under atleast a dozen MK4 Jettas in the last few years. Feel free to inquire if you need assistance.
PS, I would sell my RC’s if you wanted them. They will be sandblasted and I was going to powdercoat them again in a new color for my jetta next year, but wouldnt mind a change in pace for wheels.
I’m actually going tomorrow to get a set of r32 rims & tires tomorrow haha but thanks anyways.
Yeah I can’t wait to get it all tuned with the exhaust and what not. I was gonna wait and get a stage 2 apr ecu but when Nick told me he could tune it, to me it just seemed like a better idea.
MKIV GLI is one of the best values on used cars you can get right now. There are so many nice little touches for the car, it rides nice and has decent power. One of my favorite factory seats too.
Thanks guys. Didn’t get the r32 rims so if anyone knows of a nice set of r32, long beaches or monte carlos with decent tires for sale local let me know.
Figured I’d update everyone on what I’ve done to the GLI. Just got some 15 mm adapters & mounted my 19x8 (yeah I know they’re big) rs4 reps on the GLI, finally ditching those ugly 17 inch ADR rims. I also have done a VDO column mount boost gauge, cone air filter mod, painted the valve cover, got a tectonic’s 2.5 inch down pipe, magnaflow stainless muffler with a welded on tip (in the mail), apr r1 diverter valve & an n75 race valve. I also threw in some new spark plugs, all in prep to get her ready for Nick to tune. Let me know what you guys think of the progress so far.
Thanks man. Yeah I’ve had few people bitch that it’s sitting too high but I work for the railroad so I’d rather no destroy my car going over the 7 tracks I have to just to get into the parking lot haha. Definitely debating about doing the k04-022 swap this time next year.
Thanks man. I’m a Utility Worker for CSX Transportation at the Selkirk Shop. Pretty good gig, surrounded by 1000s of turbocharged hp. As for the tail lights, I’m gonna have to pass on that for right now. Thanks for the offer though.
