this is so stupid i have to drive people for school and yes i see the drinking law because well driving and driving is stupid we get hit because mr McGuinty son was stupid in the first place no this is not right in any way people had and allways will speed and its not like there diong 40 over wow 10km BIG DEAL ! we need a petition to change these laws and one to shut mr McGuinty up
for sure peel region is gonna abuse these laws in some way or another. they get on ur case for no reason. i hate peel cops, i got a ticket for speeding and i wasnt even speeding the cop had no radar hes like u were speeding, but yeah he didnt show up in court, but still its annoying attending court and a waste of time.
LOL this is the biggest bullshit ever, this will never go into effect. Those laws are the most ridicules thing ive read in a while. Politicians contradict themselves so much, first they say, Ok everybody car pool, we need to save the environment. Now they are telling us that car pooling is illegal and we will get a ticket for it haha. So stupid, this wont happen. Dont worry about it.
ok wait, does the taking you license away for speeding only apply to young drivers with a G2?
This is insane. If there’s no differentiation between me doing 5km/h and 50km/h, then I have nothing to lose when that cop flashes his lights. If I’m going to lose my license for doing 5km/h over, I’m going to reconsider stopping at all and might as well lose my license going faster than I’m supposed to. I feel many other teens will feel this way and will perhaps create more dangerous situations.
Anyone with any license under the age of 21
Well, the only difference is the fines and impound fees and criminal charges, but yeah.
this is retarded! i have a G and am 20 with a clean record other than a 15km over. wich was accidental. meaning i would be fucked if that law was already implemented. my license would be gone and i need it to drive my work truck to job sites… stupid! and i drive with more than one person under 21 all the time, i need to. good thing im 21 soon
alright heres a little update.
i just went out for dinner with my dad and “expressed” how angry i was over this. He has some pretty strong political ties and said he’d speak to McGuinty about this whole thing. Hopefully he will be able to do something, and i have faith that he will.
this is retarded either way…looks like they took the lazy way out again imo.
why not just make the exam and licensing part harder for upcoming drivers…instead of owning everyone that already earned the right to drive with the set rules they thought they were going into.
Get…
Out…
Exactly, if you let him pull you over, it’s a 100% guarantee that you lose your license. If you run, you have a 50% chance.
Choose wisely.
John! That’s awesome, so I first met you when I was a teen and you were in your 20s!
When are you coming back? We gotta have a drink or something! It’s great how time has passed
Omg Fobwall Has A New Display Picture
Wtf
hahaha anti-caps thing is awesome
apparently the licence suspention is 30 days.
It has been updated:
-Zero blood alcohol limit for drivers under 21.
-regards to speeding, 30 day susp first offence, 90 day second offence, total suspension for third offence. (three strikes approach). After third offence you must start from the beginning and apply for a new license.
-only one passenger between ages 16-19, exception of brothers and sisters.
On top of that they’re working on the extending the licensing process from 2 years to 3years.
This blows. now when I pick up my girl from work, her sister who comes along cant get a ride. lol. the only thing i can accept is the alcohol thing. i dont mind that. everything is bs. now i cant go to the gym with my cousin and gf. i have to choose. haha. Ontario sucks!
IMO it should be zero blood alcohol limit for any age, speeding thing is retarded as i got passed by some ass chin in a sante fe today in a school zone i was doing 55 in a 50 and he flew passed me. He would get slapped with a ticket and thats it, i would lose my license for 30 days
Drinking and driving should definately be a zero alcohol level. These other two laws seem to be a bit unfair and senseless. Here’s an article I found on Yahoo.
TORONTO - Proposed Ontario legislation to limit the driving privileges of people under age 22 is experiencing backlash from young drivers before the bill is even tabled.
Premier Dalton McGuinty says the “modest restrictions” will include a zero blood-alcohol limit for all Ontario drivers aged 21 and under and escalating sanctions for young drivers who speed, starting with a 30-day licence suspension.
Drivers between 16 and 19 will also be limited to having only one teenage passenger in the vehicle, which McGuinty concedes will mean three 19-year-old adults could not go to a movie - or church - in the same car.
The legislation is set to be tabled this afternoon, and already several online Facebook groups have sprung up protesting the proposed law.
More than 1,000 people have joined the groups and while some are in favour of the legislation, many disagree, especially with the passenger rules.
Teens are posting comments suggesting the law will discourage carpooling and having designated drivers.
“How does it make sense to try and teach us about saving gas by carpooling and buying hybrids and things such as that when it is illegal for teenagers to carpool if this passes,” one person wrote.
Another wrote that the law would “encourage drunk driving!”
“We would need more cars which means more designated drivers. My friends already don’t want this job!”
McGuinty says it’s all about saving lives.
The premier says “if that means a modest restriction on their freedoms,” then he’s more than prepared to do that.
Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory likes the idea of new rules for younger drivers but worries the restrictions on teenage passengers could be unworkable, especially in rural Ontario
looks like everyone’s against it now.
Did you read the comments? I’d say the split is about 50/50 on passing and rejecting the bill. There is also a woman who says she doesnt let her kids play music in the car and if they do, she will take away the car for a year.
Another commenter also brought up the aggressive driving style and Graduation system in Europe and suggested to beef up our driver’s education system. I am all for this.
