New Guy...sorta

Shit. I ment t62-1. I know a few people running them on 2jz’s.

I say just keep the 7m. You should be in the 400 ballpark with your current mods

Whats wrong with the W58? i’ve been running one for years at well over 400whp and had no problems, and i beat on it.

welcome to the forums Sean.

Jay

Why is the T60-1 to small? Thats what i’m running on my 2JZ. I don’t think its to small. It just depends on your power goals. A T60-1 is good for over 500hp with the right tuning and mods. I’m making 446 with mine.

yah you can definatly do that, you can make some good power off of even a ct26 with a Different compressor wheel like the 60-1 and you can get them pretty cheep 4-600 bux, and that will work with all your stock manifold/oil lines etc… with more fuel, map ecu , Steal HG IS A MUST, you can prolly do it for around a grand for that car… there good cars I really like the MKIII’s!! I almost like them more than the MKIV’s.

becauses everyone knows 2jzs are dyno queens. YOu need huge turbos that require nitrous to spool faster to make ridiculous amounts of power to run 10’s  also making only 446 is pretty much the same as staying with stock twins and doing bpu++ mods.

oh well, all of the people I do know from the supra forums say there good for 4-500hp then they become like glass transmissions! There good if your making stock or a little more hp but I cant imagine you beating on your call alll the time and that tranny is still okay???

Is your car a NA - > Turbo car does it still have the GE head on it?

Well heres the thing his car is a NA 2jz with a turbo kit on it, the exhaust/Intake Manis are not swappable from na to turbo so you cant just swap one to the other… thats prolly why he didnt go with the stock twins… and ct26’s are only good for like 240-250whp at the absolute max each… and at that point if you get the jdm ones running 15ish psi ct26’s are not reliable.

Not all 2J’s are dyno queens with huge turbo with nitrous i know plenty of guys running T6776S turbo’s making 800+whp and running 10’s with almost no lag

burnyd the previous owner of my car was making 466whp on the W58 trans. I had it retuned and re-dyoned last year and it made 446 on a more safe conservative tune. When I bought the car in august of 07’ I took it to the drag strip pretty much every weekend that year and last year. I didn’t drive it much this summer due to me adding some fuel upgrades etc. I don’t daily the car so that helps keep the stress down on it. When i do drive it tho i drive it hard. I’ve never had a trans issue yet. Knock on wood.

Yes my car is a NA-T car with a GTE block and a GE head

w58’s in the long run just wont hold up under high horsepower applications, hence why they used w58’s in na mk3’s,and r154’s in turbo mk3’s. yea you can run it on a turbo 7m/2j/1j etc, but put in comparison with an r154 it wont hold up as long, when i put on that 60 trim, im probably just gonna tune it around 15pounds, i dont wanna run higher than that until i tear into my block more, as its already starting to show signs of weakness

I’m not argueing that it’s the weaker of the 2 transmissions. I’m just saying that I think some people underestimate the power they can hold. I’m not saying it will last forever.

800 hp to run tens? z06 runs tens with 505bhp

sad huh?

yes 800hp with you in the car run 10s, with someone else of normal weight it might crack single digits!

DAN I am dissapointed , it wsnt so long ago was it?

maybe ill follow in your footsteps and go on the cocaine diet.

haha, as with anything, you have to find the right setup’s. but i still know ls1 is the golden rule…haha

OK figured out how to get a couple pics up, only have a few for now, more to come.

instead of a 2jz swap or either just toss a boosted LS in there. make plenty of power easily tunable and just sounds mean

i would but unfortunately i dont have the budget for an ls swap, so for now i’m just gonna put together the 7m, and i’m kicking around starting a v8 supra this summer, we’ll see how my money situation goes, this economy sucks, haha

Would have been nice to see that dart with an ls1 swap. So are you going to run antique plates on your supra?

meh, you can make 400whp + pretty easily, with a upgraded compressor wheel, FMIC(not even the fmic on the car is decent) more fuel and tuning…

I really like MKIII’s if you cant tell haha , the only thing that is stopping me from ever getting one is their weight!

you run mr2’s dont you? haha the 3s is like the 2j of the toyota 4bangers, at least an mr. deuce is right wheel drive, there really aren’t too many guys running turd gen supra’s but i figure i should just stay with what i know best…
