Newman's 1986 BMW 326rb build thread.

A lot of guys run a “sport cat” that doesn’t really pass. but I had no cat on my Elise, and just did the 02 plug spacer trick and it worked great…

derek /= derrick

he said it was “disabling the o2 diagnostics system” or something along those lines. haha.

you could chemically etch badass Mother fucker on the fuel rail …

or just stencil it on there with paint…

the stencil would look cool

Cleaned the cylinder head up today. Trying to minimize the amount of BS work I will need to do to get my motor back together once i get my block back.

Progress, I like it…

Also forgot to mention on Friday I milled a fuel pump bracket and a fuel filter bracket from aluminum. I’ll try and grab some pics of that soon.

The stainless fuel lines should be here tomorrow, as should the gasket kit and oil pump. All I’m really waiting on is the machine work on the block (friday) and then I can start to put it back together.

This week I’ll probably clean/polish up the master cylinder (maybe the fuel rail too). There is still a little bit of body work left to do, if I run out of things to do I’ll probably finish that up.

Once the motor is back together and installed, I’ll probably do the brake and clutch lines. And probably the fuel system too.

Misght get a head start on the rear portions of the brake/fuel system, if time permits.

what diamter are the fuel lines and what psi are they rated for? thanks!

you may wanna consider doing the lines before the motor goes back in do to limited space.

-10 line feeds the pump, -8 line from pump to rail, -6 lines from rail to regulator to tank

For those unfamiliar with AN sizes, that’s 5/8, 1/2 and 3/8 respectively

They’re good for at least 125 PSI. The cost about 400 dollars for the 5 lines and fittings.

I don’t want to do the lines first because I don’t want to redo them because the motor interferes, I’d rather just make them around the motor.

making fuel lines sucks

go carting… was a ton of fun btw :frowning:

omg its like kinda sorta almost done

Not creepy but can we be friends so I can check out your cars mainly this one and the lotus whenever I want? haha

Painted my honda accord brake booster and polished my honda civic master cylinder and associated mounting brackets. Not a super siqqq job, but it will not stick out like a sore thumb in my uber clean engine bay…

looks great CTnewman!

I am not kidding at all but my roommate(girl who knows nothing about cars) said she saw an old blocky small car that was pukey yellow/green and told me because she knows I love bright colored cars.

Don’t know what it is but someone is crampy your style. Although they are roaming the streets first.

That is creepy. Or at least pathetic.

Thanks buddy, glad you can take a joke. :roflpicard:

I haven’t been reading all of the posts, but I did notice that you are running used axles. You also said that when they break they don’t do too much damage. You could whip up some cool safety loops that attach to the rear control arms, similar to what we run at the drag races with our driveshaft safety loops. That way if the axle breaks it will be 100% contained and not take out anything expensive.
