Newman's 1986 BMW 326rb build thread.

wow looking better each day. I had to do similar rust repair on one of my eclipses. Rust sucks, but it def looks alot better!

Sunday…

After:

Only one more rust spot remains, then it’s on to the manifold!

 great progress, and way to stay on top of it also.

Since I returned from California, only one day have I not worked on it.

dont u hate doing that tedious rust removal crap?

im about to get started on some of that myself, not looking forward to it.

It’s not that bad… I don’t grind much out, I just cut out everything with rust on it, and weld in a new piece. Planning exactly what i am going to cut, and how I’m going to make the new pieces is the most time consuming, but it’s kind of fun, because it allows me to be creative… I may spring for some sort of box break so i can form sheet better… The hammer-wood-vice thing is getting old. LOL.

Nice job on the welding, Newman, that engine bay looks great now!

yeah the hammer/vise cant be fun. i dont have much bending to do with mine, but one spot is gonna require body work thats gonna also be not fun.

got bored on lunch. Took some casino winnings and bought some stuff:
