Here’s what I did.

In high school I was a 6’1" 270lb burly football player. No one said I was sloppy fat because I worked out so much and was one of the strongest kids in school.

I injured my hand and arm senior year and couldn’t work out anymore so I decided to condition instead of bulking up.

I cut my calories to about 1000-1300 a day. Cut my carbs down to about 40g a day. Stopped eating after 8pm. Started eating lots of fruits and vegetables. Stopped sitting around in my idle time and actually did stuff. Started running.

In 1 year I was down to 160lbs.

I went as low as 155lbs at one point but now 6 years later I am stable at about 170lbs.

I still watch what I eat, but its not a big deal because I made a lifestyle change. I can’t stand fried food, fast food, or anything that is really bad for you. I still run. Winters my schedule for running gets pretty lean but in the summer time I go about 4-5 days a week.

Too many times people diet, get to their target weight and then go back to what they were doing before. Thats why the rebound and then some is so high when dieting.

You really have to change your lifestyle if you want to keep it off.

Oh and as for drinking, I do it maybe 3 times a year at most.

the move to become fit is as much a mental exercise as it is physical. it’s not that you have to stop enjoying food, you just have to make the mental switch to food being used as fuel for your body.

Yea, I looked into it to try to prove you wrong. Right now there is a huge debate as to whether eating at night is a problem or not. I found a couple articles to validate my viewpoint but I wont post them because you’ve posted all true statements and it would be a worthless argument.

dropped 50 lbs since late febuary/early march. all about the lifestyle change.

o i still drink and smoke like its going out of style .

what did it for me was no soda/not eating late/not eating crap/being active.

edit: went from a 36 pant size being tight to a 32 being loose. watch out though, losing weight is a double edged sword. you lose weight cause ur clothes dont fit, then when u lose all this weight, your clothes still dont fit and you have to go buy all new clothes. this is where im at right now…

i spoke with a few trainers today, and they all seem to agree that you should eat a small snack at night. your body slows down, but still needs some fuel.

i asked 3 trainers with degrees, and this is the answer all 3 gave me… for what its worth :shrug:

trainers are meat heads, what do they know?

I’m going to go with my gut on this one and say eating at night isn’t good… unless its turkey… then it will help you sleep.

Howie, Knick, anyone else? I’m going to weigh myself when I get home, prolly 230… and when jan 1 rolls around lets see what we weigh? Not really a contest… but just keep track of what your doing, and not doing.

yeah i need to do something as well i used to be 175-185 at 6’2’’ and built in high school fluctuation in weight is from the winter to summer…winter being 185 then summer 175 lots of outdoor activities…now 3 1/2 years later im 6’ 2’’ and up to 240 blah blah…its so bad its time to get into working out again…and its even worse cause i have a full gym at my disposal…treadmill, exercise bike, all the free weights, bowlfex, and a bunch of other stuff…i just lack the will power to start…once i start i wont stop thats just how it is for me at least…

That is a good idea. This is the toughest time of the year to not put weight on.

edit shit i just weighed in and im up to 250 sun of a bitch…starvation time…starting to work out tomarrow…let see what happens in a almost 2 months…

Justin… if your going to work out you might want to find out how much fat you have…

working out with weights will make your fat content go down, but muscle mass will go up, resulting in weight gain…

I’m not going to work out… some cardio in the form of dodgeball for 3 hours, and football for 6 hours over the weekends… but I’m going to try and eat better.

I’m going to start tonight. I’m not gonna eat after 8… so if all I have is lunch for the day… so be it. :jawdrop:
