NBA Finals also had the worst rating ever for ABC, so it doesn’t say much about the sports, more about the time of the year which these are being played…
Vegas would be a good place, KC, probably not so much
"The game is great. The league stinks. We want our old NHL back; fewer teams not more, owners that want to win, not bilk taxpayers, real television coverage, not something that’s on before bull riding. "
couldn’t have said it better myself
Yeah Vegas is trying to get an NBA team and an NHL team.
Here’s something thats almost too obvious.
Lets put all the games on a TV network called the Outdoor Life Network that no one has ever heard of, then lets sign a long term deal with the same station, once it renames itself Versus.
Now people have really no fucking idea when the games are on.
And the ones that do, can’t even get the station, because most cable companies don’t offer the channel on basic packages.
They should have tried to get games on espn or espn 2, at least people would stumble upon games and watch them.
Today is one of those days…

ESPN blatently wants no part of the NHL.
OT but…
Speaking of Vegas/money/ratings
Did anyone see that golf tournament Sunday at Wynn’s Casino/resort?
It was in Vegas and it was the highest golf prize EVER!
$2,000,000 to the winner.
Talk about pressure, Mickelson would have choked to death if he played.
OK back on topic.

Not enough thug lyfe for them
Kansasa City has had a NHL team in the past, I believe they were the Scouts. I really wonder why on a few different occasions NHL teams have left cities, only to have a new team or a relocated team erturn to that city. ie: Kansas City, Colorado, Atlanta… Are they not going to be happy till the NHL has 75 teams?

ESPN gave up on hockey during the lockout, i bet you’ll see them make another stab for the contract when its current one with versus is up
i remember when espn 2 started… it was supposed to be all about hockey and other “main” sports that don’t get enough airtime (some b-ball, lacrosse, etc)… yeah, not anymore. lol

Just like how MTV was about independent bands and new music.

MTV doesn’t even play music hardly at all anymore.
And half the time ESPN2 has poker on.
Poker is fun, don’t get me wrong. But it surely isn’t a sport, and is agonizing to watch on tv.
Poker! That’s not bad at all. I remember flipping through the channels one night and came across ESPN2 broadcasting Golden Tee. They literally were showing two guys playing a golf arcade game, and the funniest part was the announcers were talking real quietly like real golf announcers.

Haha! But you see, that is actually worth laughing about.
It has humor value.
I bet I could get piss ass drunk with some buddies and laugh like crazy watching a Golden Tee Championship on tv!
Same cannot be said for poker.

$5?
deal
IMHO, ESPN felt that fans wouldnt watch hockey after the lockout, but it actually came back with a much stronger backing than before
just b/c two games in the stanley cup didnt get shit for ratings doesn’t mean the ratings aren’t there to be had…besides, half of the world doesnt get VS…
deal.
so, why does ESPN (nor ESPN2) hardly air ANY hockey coverage? during the reg season, playoffs, or even the cup.
E.g-
"The saskatoon moosefuckers won their 3rd curling cup in a row!
Thats great news for those girls, they really try to live up to their name.
Oh, BTW, an NHL game went to 7 innings last night, some eastern european got hurt. Dont worry, theres 11 more rounds to play.
In other news, the Detroit Cubs Little league softball team has made it to the championship game tonight! Live on ESPN!"
b/c they lost the rights to cover it :gotme:
fwiw, they showed sabres highlights most every night they played.
maybe they didnt want to broadcast a VS logo in the corner of the screen for most of the games shrug
if i made a bad decision, i’d be mad about it too and sulk
