NHL Lock-Out Over

Do you care at all?

Doesn’t affect me really but in chatting with some friends I guess there are a lot of sports bars out there that have been losing their ass with this lock out being this long.

Among you hockey fans, how discouraged are you by all this?

I never understood how abused women stay with their spouse until the 2013 NHL lockout.

I will go crawling back and I will love every minute of it

edit:

great for bars and restaurants, especially in the Cobblestone area (though I went to Helium last night and had a blast). Service industry in that area was hurting so bad an NY senator had to set up a program to assist.

We were lucky, Pegula the saint paid the salaries of all his staff, didn’t cut anyone during the lockout. That dude is really helping this city

It’s certainly been an annoying process all around but as a hockey fan I’m glad it’s over with. I laugh at the people who say they are done with the NHL, or want to boycott, why would you punish yourself anymore than the lockout already has? I’m looking forward to buying 100 level Avs tickets for ~$25 a piece and don’t really have any expectations from the Sabres this year.

Did the players finally accept the fact that they would have to go back to the farm in Canada and make $20,000/year?

I feel a certain sense of anger even now. Like a girl asking you to come back after she’s broken up with you. I like hockey, but not like this.

I heard a different take on it today from Robin regher (sp?). He was talking about how the lockout years ago was to prevent today’s players from not making the money that they “deserve” to make. He said most players feel that they owe it to future players to do the same that was done for him.

And I also couldn’t care less about the drama. I just want to watch hockey and I know that me trying to punish anyone by not supporting hockey isn’t going to a damn thing.

every single NHL player could move to Alberta and work in the oil sands for 6 figures without even putting in a resume if it came to that.

I’m happy.

Notice how the guys doing the negotiations were the ones who didnt care if they ever played again, since they had already made many millions in their careers. The rookies making nothing are the ones who suffer.

I just missed paying little to nothing to go to pre-season games. Other than that, I don’t much care.

+1

lmao this is exactly how i feel. I am the biggest hockey fan I know and I love the sport. I havent missed watching a sabres game in 4 years. But this has been such bullshit and demonstrates the greed and selfishness ruining the sport I love. That being said im glad its back, but pissed theres no winter classic or all star and a short gay season. I will watch every game I can because I love hockey but I will do my part to make the owners and players suffer like they made us do the last few months. That being said I will not spend a dime of my money going to a single game or buying nay nhl related apparel for a while.

I can now live again.

I’m super excited! Best sport by a mile. Fuck football.

Another reason to go drink beers! And I get to take my son to his first game this season! Can’t wait!

I will watch at home or at bars, but they won’t get a dime from me for awhile.

Im hearing this a lot and I dont really get the mentality behind it…

Essentially most people agree that this came down mostly on to the players’ inflexibility, and with the signing of the new CBA, the player’s contracts are essentially what their contracts are going to be. All you’re doing is punishing the owners by not buying the product. That is unless you’re trying to punish Bettman himself which is really just silly. Dont get me wrong, I have a bad taste in my mouth too but at the end of the day, the players are still going to be spoiled babies for the next 8 years despite whether I show up or not.

The only way I have any impact is via spending money on their product. Not interested.

We had billionaires fighting with millionaires trying to say they care about the fans. The whole thing makes me wish the whole season was canned.

This season is just about perfect for me. I like hockey but hate that there are 82 games, making lots of them feel pretty much pointless. Trying to watch an 82 game season is like having a 2nd wife.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Im sure a lot of Vegans are saving a few cows around the world too…

Dont get me wrong, I do the same thing with the Bills. But thats because IT ALL comes down to a few decision makers who have repetitively shown they have no care for the fans, and by not showing up, it hits the ones who deserve to be hit directly.
