Back in high school I had an 01 mustang v6. Had dual mach mufflers that cutoff at the rear axle, no tips coming out to the bumper or anything. Sounded great. Deep, loud (enough), and unlike any other v6 mustang I heard.

If you did a search for a thread on this and didn’t find one… there is probably a reason why there is no thread on this in the first place (just saying).
buy magnaflow mufflers. replace your stock ones with them. enjoy louder but not too loud sound. Or don’t be a cheap fuck and just buy a cat back.
edit: seriously though magnaflow have a good sound and can be had cheap on ebay. you could probably get a pair(assuming there is 2) on your car for around 100 bucks. A cat back is probably going to run 350+ so that is your better value as long as your exhaust is in good enough condition to weld/clamp onto.
By any chance is this because your mufflers are rotted out? I ask because when I had my GTP, one of the mufflers blew out while the rest of the car was relatively clean.
Resonators and mufflers with a good sound are your best bet.

I looked up catbacks awhile back and IIRC the cheapest was 5 or 6 hundred. I’ll look into some magnaflows, thanks.

No, I just want a better sound and maybe a couple more ponies. The car was pretty clean when I bought it last year and I winterized it before this past winter.

Flowmaster 40s would make it sound decent though. That’s the route I would go.
