TOKYO — Nissan is planning to shoehorn the 4.5-liter V8 that powers several Infiniti models into its 350Z sports car to create a 400-horsepower hot rod.
The muscled-up coupe would be called the 450Z, says U.K. magazine Autocar. So far, the more powerful coupe has not been confirmed for production, but Nissan is seriously considering it in a bid to compete with the likes of Porsche.
The 450Z could also have an Audi quattro-style four-wheel-drive transmission in order to make sure the V8’s output can be safely transferred to the road. The only problem is that the V8 currently doesn’t meet all worldwide emissions rules. But Nissan is planning to modify the engine to meet Euro IV standards as it’s planning to launch Infiniti in Europe in early 2007.
What this means to you: More power means higher price and more profit for the car companies, but it’s not exactly going to please the environmental lobby.
that will be sweet and all but with an already pricey sticker…how are broke people like myself supposed to even look in the general direction of it!
You’re not, that’s why they make the Sentra! That’s like saying why would Chevy make the new Z06, when someone making minimum wage can’t afford it.
I hope they do make it, I like the current Z, but it needs to have some balls.
no no no dont get me wrong…i hope they do to…i think it’d be hard. i was just bein retarded
thats the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. it will fail miserably. it should have come with a TT option when it was introduced with the TT price being slightly above what the current car is sold for, with the non turbo version going for a good bit less than current sticker.
I agree. I think they should bring back the TT Z.
I think this is just rumors :dunno: this subject has been floating round for a while, but will be interested in seeing if it develops. The TT Z was getting rather pricey at the end of production…don’t know if they could do it again and have reasonable price on it :dunno:
i think its a rumor also especially with the skyline comin to the states
i dont see this happening
i personally think that if it ever becomes an option for the z33 platform america will never see it.
man everyone seems to be switching over to v8’s and not even bothering with a turbo anymore.
I think it’s because a lot of companys lose their asses on warranties on a turboed car.
i can agree with that but with technology now there should be a way to monitor and record boost levels and other information that may void the warranty.
uhhh oohhh Jinxxy got some competition
personally i think the 350z, its such a nice all around car
it doesnt matter. by the time it gets to the states if it does come, that 400hp will be 300hp
we all know it will be hella expensive. why buy a nissan z when you’re in porsche territory? at that point i’d spend the money on the cayman S or a 911.
