ive seen a th 350 tranny come apart at full hit it exploded schrapnel all up into the car planetary gears just missed legs trq converter 3 pieces under dash and so on so on …so to say its a exaggeration is a lie it can hurt ya and kill …
Do tell more!.. lol…
I want some sort of scattershield…even if just some plate welded to the tunnel. Thanks again for all Adam. I see why changing the slave while at the track didn’t help.
You really think that has something to do with it?
Did you switch to the 325 slave?
I honestly don’t know if one exists for the E36 drivetrain but I’ll look into it. I’d rather make a true shield than weld 1/4" plate to the unibody. Be cheaper labor wise anyway as the time involved in piecing together something to the unibody is just extensive(to do it right). I look into all options for you.
Also, did you want to revert to a different/proper slave to get the ratio back in order(regain pedal feel) Clutch is way to light for my tastes in a track car. Has zero feel to me, or at least it did when it left prior to grenading. :lol
I’ll have to see what suits better… M5 slave, or revert to a 325 slave as B stated. I’ve never driven an M5 and have no idead what the pedal feel is like. I’d hate to order one, put it in and have it be weak still…waste of money.
The options are the M3 slave and 325 slave. The M5 slave wont work/isnt in the equation.
The actual M5 clutch in an M5 doesnt feel similar; it’s actually heavy as hell in the E39. The difference in feel when the parts are installed in an E36 M3 comes from the clamping force of the PP (so I’m told). The 325 slave just happens to fit and has a different level of hydrolic pressure so the pedal feel stiffens and returns to “normal.”
Then that is the ticket I’m looking for to go back in this car, as long as Jay approves of course ;D
It has a brand new 325 slave…which is the slave needed to get pedal feel back… so were good. I will contact UUC to get resolved…since they agree it was a mechanical issue, all I need to do is decide if I want the same one… or store credit!
The clutch in my '93 S10 looked similar to that and I drove the truck home the night before and it was fine and it made alot of noise when I started the next morning. Pieces everywhere.
