NO ppm too high

I failed my etest today.
I have a brand new 3" high flow cat and the EGR is blocked off.

How can I lower my NO ppm? Getting the EGR to work again is not possible.

HC ppm 64 43

NO ppm 485 1646

Retard your timing at the distributor and pray!! Honestly, it will be tough to pass without an egr. Get a timing light and retard your ignition timing down to 12-14 degrees or so, going too far will increase your other numbers. Stock timing is 20 degrees.

I passed with an afr of 17:1 and 0* of timing. But I have a standalone and made it happen. Good luck suckerface.

Hammer…to retard the distributor is it turn to the left or turn to the right?

Which way is advance and which one is to retard lol…i cant remember (N)

retarding the timing may work… it will be close without the EGR though.

I’m In a simulare situation. if u dfind out the answer u let me know

Same situation for me on the Honda. Turned out the High Flow cats are a 2 stage catalyst. High end aftermarket/OEM are 3 stage catalysts which makes a world of difference and allowed me to pass no problem.

just snap on a normal 3-way cat do the etest and then put the highflow back on
i just passed etest on a rebuilt rich running KA w/o egr and a new 3-way cat

Before you go get your etest make sure you engine and exhaust are at operating temperature. The cat works better at high temperatures. If your car is cold it will always have higher NO emission. The drive through places are the best. Given that there is no line up, you can go for a nice 10 minute drive first and test the car when it is at operating temperature, at this time your cat is hot. That will likely take care of your problem.
The same thing goes for oilchanges, you want to change your oil when it is at operating temperature and any deposits in the engine are in the oil. When the oil gets drained all the polutants flow out.

liquid methyl hydrate
