…they kill people.
id be more pissed about a bent rim.
^^ government must pay for all damages caused by pot holes
haha
you can catch some pretty sweet jumps off the broken bridge.
man i can’t even keep track of how many shitty streets there are here in toronto
every now and then you catch them repaving some of them but there are STILL a million left, im sure investing more money into fixing roads is something everyone can agree with
Or even fixing them right. Here in Hamilton the roads that JUST got re-paved are always being torn up and redone over and over.
The thing I really hate is when they only cut out small chunks of the road and re-pave that part which never compacts the same as the rest of the road so it always makes big-ass bumps or pits in the road.
I was actually ready to bash whoever created this thread. But since it was not what I expected, good post.
But there is a catch. You have to prove that the city was negligent. Good luck with that one. The cash strapped city keeps a vice-like grip on compensation and will dole out the cash for repairs only if you can really prove your case. As it turns out not a penny has been given out this year.
City of Toronto
First you have to prove it was the city’s fault. Toronto’s legal department never pays out a claim without a thorough investigation first.
Needless to say, they’d prefer you go through your insurance company first.
If you decide to pursue the complaint, you have to submit it in writing. The claim has to include the time, date and location of the incident, a description of what happened, and a damage estimate.
And don’t wait. Any such bid for compensation has to be done, in the city’s underlined words, “immediately”.
Address your note to:
City Clerk’s Office,
City Hall,
100 Queen Street West,
Toronto.
M5H 2N2
Fax: (416) 392-1867
Or you can email: clerk@toronto.ca
But even then you’re not finished. Two weeks later, you’ll get another letter in the mail acknowledging receipt of your complaint and if it’s found valid, you’ll then receive yet another form to fill out.
For more information, call (416) 397-4212.

The needs are similar to the city, but the envelope or email goes somewhere else.
Mail a comprehensive claim that includes the time, date and location where the damage occurred, and include copies of any relevant documents - like a repair bill or an estimate.
Send it to:
Management Board Secretariat
Risk Management & Insurance Services
700 University Avenue,
6th Floor,
Toronto.
M7A 2S4
Here’s where more government red tape comes in. You can fax the information if you want to (416) 314-4444 - but you have to follow it up with a mailed letter either way. And you may have to wait up to three months for an answer.
Call (416) 314-3445 for more information.

In Other words; Good luck getting anyone to pay for it but yourselves.
they should bu the bastards didnt pay me. Toronto city insurance claims people told me ‘the road is fine’ as it was fixed 3 days afer i repored the damage.
I was a gigantic crater and it was night+raining like crazy… damaged balljoint, cv axle, shocks, rim (big time dent), etc… never felt such an impact in a car.
The bastards fixed the road but jacked me. It’s a frickin mafia, insurance all together.
:S
Quebec > * when it comes to the shittiest streets
yonge+steeles anyone?
correction
oh to be so young and full of trust…
There are loads of potholes where I live, I do wonder how much damage they do each time you go over one.
Add Steeles to that list.
For me it’s not always the potholes but the generally bumpy roads. Everything rattles. lol
Try Vic Park from Ellesmere to Lawrence. Also Pharmacy from Sheppard to Finch.
What about that awesome twisty road leading to Standard Auto Wreckers. Fun, but there are some scary ditches.
