[Question!] Hit a pothole, FUCKED my car.

So I hit a fucking pothole today WHILE AVOIDING a bunch of other fucking potholes.

Don’t know the extent of the damage yet, could be the CV joint or something else, but nonetheless, my question is:

Has anyone successfully sued/claimed damage to their vehicle against the town and what is involved, how long did it take to get the money, does you car insurance company find out and your rate suffer?

Thanks!

lol good luck with that, try to take a picture/photo ASAP of the culprit pothole. If not you’re screwed.

I reported and after 3 days they FIXED the damn hole (gigantic hole)… and 3 weeks later told me they inspected the road and its ‘fine’ and toronto whatever insurance adjusters won’t be able to cover my car blabla. Fucked over.

Fucking mafia. Now people get the point of why I’m pissed off about our roads? Garbage! Day upon day.

You can file a claim but… better take like a billion photos before they fix it, in fact reporting it they probably will fix it just not cover your damages… people have managed to successfully get fixed up (according to the media) but i have yet to hear of anyone personally…

Get your ass on City TV. I am not even kidding. Media clout will get shit done.

Ya, I figured as much. Going to take some photos tmrw – thanks for the tips.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK, FUCK!

the government needs to be pressured and humiliated and then theyll start doing shit. The media is on the government’s side 99.99% of the time. Eg; the ‘street racing’ craze bs.

Good luck.

That’s because the media tells you what you want to hear as Joe Blow. I call it the common man POV, the one that fedora wearing motherfucker.named Joe Warmington gives in The Sun. I call it comedy, they call it news with a girl to masturbate to when you finish reading it. The POV South Park makes fun of repeatedly.

Anyway, City TV does one of these stories every spring because these are when the roads are the most fucked up, usually followed by an interview of someone with a damaged vehicle, potential suits, pressure on the city and a foow up report. At the end there is generally a rating of the worse roads with Steeles ranking #1 in the country as always.

You can be that guy that is interviewed. You are the perfect candidate for this. The media will eat this up, this story is money and money talks.

lol and the roads will still suck as they always have  So awesome.

Meh…

anyways i feel bad for you bro…

I went over a huge unmarked “reverse speedbump” in Orillia/Severn Bridge/bumfuck nowhere a few weeks ago and cracked my rad. I took pics, etc… and the township is paying for a new rad. MAKE SURE you include the surrounding area in your pics or they will try to say it’s some random pothole on some other road. Severn Bridge sucks. But free rad doesn’t. So get on that shit!
And remember to make a scene.

you’ll never be able to fix every pot hole out there, but any extra preassure on the government and attention to this issue helps. if anything, at LEAST that.
i’m not sure how insurance companies respond to problems like this, but maybe its worth a call. although, i’m 99.101% sure they will do nothing for you.

i feel for you too though, i drive steeles every day!

good luck dude

youll need it

got 900 from the city after drving over a bunch of small rocks destroying 3 parada spec 2 17s and damaging a wheel. Thanks city of hamilton. It was a huge bitch. Take picture and go file a police report saying about the
accident" it really helps.

My friend hit a speed bump and it popped his tire and bent his rim. He called the city, which told him to call the construction company (because it was in a construction zone and they didnt mark it), then after 5 weeks, he got $700, but he had to give them the bent him and tire for w/e reasons lol.

Not really your situation, but they usually will compensate you in some way.

Thanks guys. This really blows – I spent a bunch of money fixing my rad leak the day before (water pump and a sensor), replaced my belts…was planning on picking up coilovers this weekend :frowning:

Towing the car to a local mechanic to see what the deal is – hopefully it’s not too costly.

FUCKING shit though. Every time I get myself ready to hit the track something happens and I end up having to wait another year. Have 2 jobs now so hopefully that won’t be the case this time.

oh man, i think someone beat you to the punch on contacting city tv
because about an hour ago, on cp24 they were doing a little report about the pot holes in the city and you see a pot hole you can call 311 to get it repaired.
then they had some city rep saying “we have invested twice as much money this year to repair the pot holes…”
looks like you’re not the only one dealing with this shit.

DUH… lol… why you think i raved about this every year  Ah well… like I said the only way to REALLY get some change going is to collectively humiliate the government

Good news – turns out it was just my front right spring that snapped…so coilovers will be the perfect fix!

Sooo happy!

Hahaha. Told ya about the media deal.

as i read this cbc news(playing in the background) is reporting 250 million dollars in roadworks is expected for toronto lol.

well millers gonna spend 10mil(or something like that) per subway station on suicide detterrents, since they have a surplus of money from the lack of snow removal this year… WTF! why not repave the shitty roads instead! toronto is fucked… i spend 90% of the time staring at the road just ahead of me to avoid potholes than i do looking around while i drive… fuck, i should just buy a 4X4
