Excuse the camera phone… It’s all I got.
I’m down to the timing cover. I have all the bolts out. But it wont budge.
Do I need to get a crank puller (for that guy on the very bottom center of photo) to get any further?

what are you trying to do?

replace the timing chain
happened at the beginning of October… right when we had all that amazing weather
EDIT: The car is going on a diet. And getting cleaned head to camel toe.
no erg / air
low mount ps/alt.
full hvac removal…
thats why everything is apart.
Maybe abs removal but I don’t know the first thing about brakes.
ok well do this take hub off with a puller. loosen up about 4 oil pan bolts on both sides of the oil pan. it should have enough drop so you can get the gasket off without ripping it. and give it a little pry to pop off

I’m not so sure you’d wanna remove the ABS, but thats just me.

It’s a straight line car mostly…
I’ll have the suby soon for good handling.
I’m trying to clean up the engine bay. . .
I don’t have 4 wheel discs, only upfront.
The abs system is so bulky.

Oh, i gotcha. I know with different cars I’ve messed with the ABS delete was a nightmare, although those cars weren’t worth the hassle, where this seems to be a relatively nice vehicle.
Good luck with the project.

I’d like the hurst style kit w/ LL
Is it worth the extra cash?
Looks like an awesome kit to me. I say do it!
Not a bad price for all you get IMO.
The more and more I think about it…
Maybe I should just go with a manual rack.
Any one here have the manual rack?
I run 275’s up front with a 6 speed… Should I just grow some balls?

Will the car be Daily driven in the summer? Are you reasonably strong/don’t mind putting in extra effort to turn from a dead stop?
If this isn’t your DD, and you’re just trying to make a ton of HP in a lightened car I’d personally do it. I’m doing all of this as well…Just with a turbo e30. lol.

Alright, I’m creating too much bs trying to find a low mount PS and ALT brackets, so I’m just going to delete the PS and go with a manual rack. lol
:gay2: I don’t suffer from this. lol

Pacesetter Coated LT’s Race
Heavy duty timing chain
Electric water pump
Duals, no cats, bullets dumped b4 rear end.
Sub-frame connectors
Possibly comp cam 305 (this depends on fundage)
Bottle, dry, 100 shot.
As much weight reduction as possible.
And everything I’ve mentioned so far lol.
Projected hp? Not sure… My rear end was just rebuild 5,000 ago with 3.73’s. I want the car to run low 11’s. But we’ll see. Thats the goal. It’s an lt1 so… I know there has to be alot of work done. One step at a time…
Anyways. I gotta get some sleep. Court tomorrow (cheektowaga = fuck)
I’ll keep this updated!

I have Vallone as the judge… So we’ll see how it goes
You will need to take out way more than 4 bolts on the oil pan to get the timing cover off. A manual rack is easier to turn than a stock rack with the ps pump removed, and the lines looped. You will not like a manual rack with a big-ass tire on the front. Most guys that run manual racks are running skinnies up front so it’s no big deal.
Looks like you got a lot of crap out of the way to make room for a LS1
Got to get that hub off; MAPP torch puller and a hammer (Beat the puller between tightening to “shock” it, and it’ll come off; do it that way every time and they come right off).
Also as was said, you need to loosen most of the pan bolts and drop the front, then it’ll come off.
