What’s a good bowling ball to buy? I wanna start bowling more often but hate having to locate a ball at the alley ever time.
There are tons on the market… The last new ball I bought was the Total NV, it has held up very well, have it drilled for backend action, and performs well on all oil patterns.
Before that, the last ball I bought was the FearFactor, which I still use periodically!
depends how you bowl and where you bowl at…i would possibly see a person who works at the pro shop. Once you get good and know what you like you can start buying balls based on what they do.
I bowl at a medium to slow speed / i throw a mild hook .
This is in term leads me to buy balls that go down the lane and snap at the end
Finally after a 3 year slump I shot 300 tonight sure feels good to get that off my back
Nice work, I am still in the hunt
I pretty much have no hook, and have a fast speed. Not looking for anything professional just something I can have drilled for my hands, probably a 16 lber I think, I don’t know?
doesn’t jeff anything left from his arsenal? you should talk to him about trading bowling stuff for computer work lol.
i would suggest getting either a Columbia scout reactive or a brunswick power groove. both basically so the same thing and are the same price for the most part. they are a good first ball to start out with. does not really hook a lot so they are a good learning ball to get the basics down
i know alotta people the bowled in the tournament this week. i heard the conditions were treacherous. Nice to see local jack jurek made the t.v. final cant wait to see how he holds up. Also i have worked with liz johnson a bunch of times, and she is now the first woman to make the cut in a mens tourney.
But on another note, hows all the league bowlers doing this year. I started very slow and im only averaging 199 after 39 games this season hoping to get to around 215 by the end of the year. i already got a sanctioned 700 this year which was cool and plan on bowlin some big tourneys as the winter progresses.
i killed it friday night… i hated the lane conditions first game / kept switching balls …i bolwed a 206, struck out the 10th and felt comfortable… 2nd game, 300 finally ive been dued for one i go into the third game… front 7 and the 8th i pulled it leaving 7 / then striking out , 783 set…i was so pissed i havent had a 800 … but 26 out of 27 strikes isnt bad and its my highest set so far
Nice work Henry, I am about to head to one of my leagues
good luck man, and im pissed that i missed the tournment this year again… and i need to start bowling a few more days a week so i can start living of bowling since my job sucks
So I was killing them during practice this morning, struck in the first frame, something happened mechanically in the pit, and this was the result:
The ball is completely trashed, the guy working at Broadway said he has NEVER seen anything remotely close to the damage done, and I can second that comment.
So we had our lanes switched to a non-fresh pattern, took 4 frames to get used to it, and now I am back to using the Fear Factor
^Wow did they give you a new ball or atleast a gift certificate or something? I’d be seriously pissed especially if it was my primary ball.
Eh it should be a ball replacement, very shitty, I am sure it will get done so I am not making a big deal about it. If they don’t however, I will make some noise!
wow thats broadway for you…what pair and who did you talk to about that
ya that better be a new ball or at least repair but it looks deep… im in the process of trying to get a new ball an work only with ebonite products, ive had pretty good luck with them and columbia
kinda looks like the earth with a big river/canal dug into it haha
Broadway destroys balls, I’ve seen balls with chunks missing come back. Never anything like that though.
Yeah plastic balls typically get the gouge effect, I know my sisters 6 lb way back when suffered that…
It happened on lane 20, my dad’s ball had a small gouge in it during practice, and then thisi happened after the first frame.
I talked to the only guy working there, I forget his name, big smoker raspy voice late 40’s early 50’s… Mike Westfield should get the note before I am there tomorrow night, and I am trusting they will take care of everything
