I didn’t care too much for most on the list. because they can be one sided, I bet a lot can be said of other presidents having their “first” lists that look similar.
This place is conservative as all hell. Me and fade are the only consistent lefty posters. JoesTypeS and that crazy stroked dude et al are long gone.
NDAA sucks, no doubt about that. I’m disappointed in Obama for signing it but the right-wing Super-PAC’s had the attack ads about national security all queued up and ready to roll if he didn’t. Still, no excuse.
According to reports from the Congressional Research Service, during their time in office President Ronald Reagan made 240 recess appointments, President George H. W. Bush made 77 recess appointments, President Bill Clinton made 140 recess appointments, and George W. Bush made 171. Obama’s first term has seen a paltry 28. In this context, Obama’s move seems less like a power grab and more like the proverbial 98-pound weakling taking a second to wipe the sand out of his eyes.
Also, since everyone likes pictures, this is why I’m more confident in re-election than polls show.
Many of my beliefs have been converted. I now lean somewhat left where I used to be mostly right.
That said I think “left” in political terms means nothing now. They are all corporate backed to a level where our government is no longer objective and for the greater good.
Obama is taking away rights and signing garbage into the books. Obama didn’t directly create those jobs through policy, if anything the bailouts did. Bush approved the 1st big bailout that set the ball in motion. I dislike Bush so don’t think I’m a fan of his…just calling it how it is. Even if jobs come back, the money that created the jobs and is then paid out to the people is worth less and less the more they print. Catch 22.
This is one thing I liked about Newt. He came out and said every country’s aid number starts at 0. They can then argue for an asking amount and what purpose it provides us. Our country has so many money problems, I agree we shouldn’t be just handing out money.
In regards to the job creation graphs, I have two issues with that. Economic programs take years to get into the motion to show changes. It is very hard to show who exactly is responsible for certain numbers just because someone was in office. Also, Obama’s programs are a lot of free money programs which seem to give out a lot of cash to businesses. With raising the debt ceiling, he is just throwing money at a problem and hope it goes away and not looking at a long term repair, like driving our businesses to grow internationally and hire more people.
Newt is a fucking pussy. He dodged the draft yet is all about going to war. How many wars would we fight if the rich had to go themselves or if they had to send their own kids? It’s all good when it’s someone else’s kids losing their limbs or life, as long as the rich cock suckers continue to profit.
I agree that numbers are easily rigged. Giving Obama credit for the job “gains” is a media slant at it’s worst. And as you pointed out Boxxa, printing money may add some jobs but those jobs are now driven by inflation, not growth.
If it was growth would bond yields still be at all time lows with no money flowing out into stocks? Money stays in bonds for stability, so what are they afraid of given our stellar stock “recovery”? I just ranted via PM to someone about bonds in fact. LOL
I wasn’t giving anyone credit for the improvement, just pointing out that it can’t hurt his re-election chances. I do think the stimulus helped a lot more than it got credit for…no one knows how bad it would have been without it.
The bankers and the entire military industrial complex. The US is missing literally trillions of dollars that cannot be accounted for. The criminals have taken over, right or left means very little or nothing. Some people think they hate capitalism but what they really hate is what is actually going on; corporatism.
