They should just bump the EIC to get the same effect, that, however would increase the tax burden on everyone else, but at least it would avoid immediate underemployment issue. So I guess the question is how you’d like you effects, first order(businesses and some unemployed bearing the costs) or second order(everybody pays) .
:grouphug:
i need to go one welfare and get an escalade
That is retarded. People aren’t suppose to live off minimum wage. This just hurts the middle class.
dont you love the way socialism is going to fuckin ruin our country!
go Obama :picard: :suicide: :smash2:
I make more than $1200.
I was saying with minimum the way it is most people couldnt live anywhere but the shitty areas of WNY so this could be a good thing.
I think I’d work from home and get a regular job part time if minimum was 9.50.
Hell I might even let my girl out of the closet and off her leash to get a job.
tripple income could be really really nice.
oh…he is bringing everyone’s wages closer to the same level…but he doesn’t want to redistribute the wealth and he isn’t socialist…riiiiiigggghhhhhht.
Source for any of this?
I like Obama, but raising the minimum wage does not solve anything. It actually causes an increase in unemployment. The argument that most economist have is that if higher wages make workers more productive and reduce labor turnover, the why don’t firms freely pay wage rates above the equilibrium wage to encourage more productive work habits?(CFA, 2008) Also, ecomonists at the University at Austin have shown the firms cut employment before the the minimum wage rate is increased in anticipation of the increase.
theres a huge dilema here. Everyone says to “get a job” and get off welfare. Well, what do you tell the mother of 2 or 3? Yea she shoulda kept her legs closed, bla bla bla. Well think about it maturely, If this lady goes out and gets a job for the minimum wage of 7.50hr or whatever it is who will watch her children?? Daycare can for about 3-400ish a week. Well now single mom has to work 40hrs a week, not see her children, and for what? she isnt even making enough to pay for daycare. Its just easier to stay at home and get assistance from the state. Yes theres people abusing the system and there always will be. But this is just one tiny issue of many in this state/country. I sure as hell dont have the answers to fix this and neither does anyone else.
stop using logic on nyspeed… only use fear mongering and inverse logic…
what do you tell a single mom?
get married before you have kids, have a home before you have kids, have a savings before you have kids, birth control is cheap before you have kids.
You don’t tell a single mother shit, you find her mother and you repeatidly slap her with a phonebook and tell her she should teach her offspring logic.
+1 on a source for this
Yeah I mean this is a thread started by JEG of all people.
True.
Knowing the cause of the problem is very important though.
This problem hasn’t always existed in this country.
What has changed?(Yeah, I already know the answer(s))
I have looked at both CNN, FOX and MSNBC and I have not found anything saying Obama wants to raise the minimum wage to $9.50.
I’m not going to say it doesn’t exist, I’m just saying that this is a political thread started by JEG.
Fatherless, poor families have always existed. The difference is that society mainly ignored them.
:uhh:
What do you tell a schlep rock who thinks birth control is 100% effective?
pregnancies happen, there is no sure fire way to prevent a pregnancy (short of not having sex). So why doesn’t everyone just stop having sex and our unwanted pregnancies will just stop. Because condom’s never break, pills are never missed or are ineffective, and everyone agrees with abortion.
you don’t tell this schlep rock shit, you find his mother and instead of repeatedly slapping her with a phone book…you find his significant other and realize that it would be a lengthy struggle to fuck her, therefore excusing him for being un-educated on birth control.
you weak suck.
not to mention… and this is what really kills me personally… someone says birthcontrol this and birthcontrol that, and then republicans by and large support limited/none at all/abstinance only education for kids. thats not just being ignorant to the problem its dangerous and irresponsible. its easy to say dont do it… its hard to make it happen when sex saturates everything we experience, the TV acts as the modern babysitter for a mom working two jobs, and when sex is made to be taboo
How can you expect to enforce abstinence among all of America’s children, when you yourself couldn’t enforce it upon your own?
