The actual penalties start relatively low – a penalty of the greater of $95 or 1 percent of income in 2014, $325 or 2 percent of income in 2015, and $695 or 2.5 percent of income in 2016 and beyond. This is expected to raise $17 billion over 10 years from individuals and $52 billion from corporations.
You are only taxed if you don’t have insurance and can afford it forcing you to buy it, or taxed more overall if you make more than a 1/4 million a year.
