Off roading - anyone into it?

I’m debating because the truck is barely practical as it is. 6" suspension lift plus 3" body lift. Plus Torsion adjustment and heavy duty leafs. I’m at 10" or 11"

IFS sucks for the hold back. Not very easy to get major lift out of it. One day however, I may end up doing it. Just an S10 lol

For now, it works fine.

Why was he nailing on it like that? Good way to splash water up everywhere and fuck something up. Deep water should always be a slow crawl

I always wanted to try it. However, i drift …

If i buy a pickup truck in the future for towing purposes, maybe i’ll try it.

SFA for the win. IFS is shit because it kills parts so fast, and has hardly any articulation compared to a properly set up solid axle(on a reasonable budget) although im sure someone will argue that. damn this thread makes me want another truck.

IFS doesn’t kill parts any faster than SFA. All depends on your set-up. Alignment, use of vehicle and of course the quality of the parts.
I rebuilt my front end 5 years ago. Same parts with probably 75,000k on them. GREASE ur shit.

I’ll take his IFS over your SFA any day that ends in Y. Hardly any articulation LOL they can achieve way better articulation. SFA is just better supported by aftermarket and easier.

That’s completely different from you everyday IFS…

SFA > IFS

Haha I know that it’s not even comparable to oem IFS I was just sayin lol.

I’ve only ever lifted SFA so I’m biased and I’ll stick out of this lol.

:o!!!

I have a ford escape presently. It does fine offroad but its no monster.

Previously I’ve had 3 jeep XJ cherokees and 2 sidekick/trackers. They were fun as hell offroad.

I can’t remember the name of the builder or what he called his contraption. But, it was like that chainlink 4x4 except it had telescopic legs that not only moved up and down independently, but also side to side AND each wheel had and independent hydraulic steering motor. Think of the places you could go!

Only downside (to me) was that it was electric.

im in i have ah sidekick

Ive got a 00 4runner sr5 auto-tragic :frowning: but its a DD so gets me around. Totally looking for trails within an hour of Toronto if anybody knows of some?!? Definitely not into rock crawling, but a bit of mud, ditch, bush, trail sounds like fun to me!

an hour drive north there is some good ones, been through them myself in a 90’s yota or my own 2002 xterra on some new 31" offroaders

Ya if you are into going an hour north. There are muddy sideroads just about every concession.

Speaking of which… Any good roads for a jacked up 240?? Barrie area, dirt/graval/snow covered type deal?

I cant think of any where you wouldn’t get stuck, and all of the ones that get plowed are pretty much straight, so that’s no fun either.
