I wouldn’t even blame them for half of the penalties they received; the officiating fucking sucked tonight. But the whole team, besides Miller, played like shit. It’s sad when your goalie lets in 6 goals and imo 5/6 weren’t his fault. All the optimism I had of this team before the season started is completely gone. The only teams they’ve won against so far are a shitty Capitals, a shitty Atlanta and a decent Toronto.
They still have 9/10 of the season to fix their issues though…plenty of time…

how come every time the sabres lose… all of the fans blame the defense and refs… yet the paper today had an article on how good the sabres defense is?
but most of the time it seems that all the sabres fans i know are blaming the refs for the loss

Are you actually watching the games, or are you just reading the papers?
And I don’t think anyone in this thread was blaming the refs for the loss, but I did say the officiating was atrocious, and if you watched the game, then I don’t know how you can disagree. I don’t know, maybe you should read the paper tomorrow and then form an opinion about the game tonight.
We looked decent in the first, but then looked like skating, steaming poo through the 2nd and 3rd. I feel bad for miller, they left him out to dry. No doubt Lindy is gonna crack the whip.

agreed…we just aren’t playing to our potential when we lose.
we aren’t really getting beat by better teams…there’s a very noticeable difference in the team i saw tonight and last game, and the team i saw win a few…when we win, we look to be playing like Sabres…but it’s obvious that we’re playing like shit when we lose…not that the team is genuinely better than us…if that makes any sense…

im getting annoyed with people saying how “rock solid” our defense is…i think sekera sucks a huge nasty cancerous nut…he’s lazy, slow, and gets beat to every puck…i was fucking thrilled to see that spacek should be back soon, but now the next weakest link of our defense kaleeeeeeeenin goes down (im guessing mcl sprain or acl tear) which means we get, thats right, MORE SEKERA…fuck him, give me card or funk any day
our defense has been the weakest link to the team in ALL of the losses…if you don’t think so, you haven’t been watching the HORRIBLE goals we’ve allowed due to SHITTY DEFENSE

-1 to bad calls. I actually shut the game off when Rick went on his soapbox about the Lydman call for shooting the puck out of the rink. Listen asshole, I don’t care that he swung at it one handed. The fact is Carolina was putting on great pressure and the Sabres greatly benefited by Lydman firing the puck go into the mesh. You bitch about this rule every time it’s called against us, then bitch that it should be called any time an opposing team does it. We all love the “go home team” way you call, but at least try to be a little impartial when it comes to penalty calls.
I wonder how many of you would think the ref’s were poor if the game was on VS and you didn’t have Rick crying nothing is a Sabres penalty, and every time a Carolina player touches a Sabre it should be a penalty? I won’t mention the Montreal game because the refs really did suck there.
The fact is the Sabres are playing lazy hockey right now, and the majority of the penalties are a direct result. Teams are skating harder than “the best skating team in the league” Sabres, getting around them, and we’re taking hooking/holding penalties as a result.
The only thing that scares me is it’s the same hockey I saw at the end of the season last year, with people making the same excuses.
