Yeah, 2 of the 3 red wings goals should never have crossed the line, but oh well. Osgood is a good goalie, has been for quite some time.
Sucks to see us lose…but I will give it to Detroit they are a very good team. You can compare them to the Oilers of the 80’s. To think how young our team is and how we were in it to the very end. Just think how the series would have went if we would have played better in games 1 & 2. Still you have to say thanks to the Pens for everything they did…they were amazing. I can’t wait for next season…hopefully we can finish it.
Shero has to earn his money now. Lets hope some of these players like Orpik, Malone, Staal, Geno, Hossa will consider this team has a long bright future and they take “discounts” to keep the team together. I know we can’t keep em all but it will be nice to see a few take a discount…we’ll see though.
i was at primantis and the pens got the standing O when they were going off the ice. im mad we didnt win, but they outplayed us fair and square. osgood has shown he still had it.
we had such a great season, i just look forward to the coming months and see how the lineup will change.
LET’S GO PENS!!!

Agents agree that captain Sidney Crosby and defenseman Ryan Whitney - signed last summer to long-term extensions that run though the 2012-13 season - are components to a core of Penguins players, all younger than 26, that also includes centers Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.
Shero can begin discussing long-term contract extensions with Malkin and Staal on July 1, though each player is under contract through next season.
Agents believe Shero’s top offseason priorities are extensions for Malkin and Staal and a new contract with Fleury, a restricted free agent on July 1.
Here is a list of all the players and their contracts

FORWARDS
Sidney Crosby
Contract Status: Signed through 2012-13 at average of $8.7 million per season.
story continues below
Looking ahead: Took less on his deal so Pens could build winner around him.
Marian Hossa
Contract Status: Made $7 million, can be unrestricted free agent July 1.Looking ahead: Pens will make a serious effort to keep him, but he’ll only stay if he’s willing to take less than what he could get on open market.
Evgeni Malkin
Contract Status: One year left on three-year, entry-level deal.Looking ahead: Pens will try for long-term extension this summer; Malkin likely will shoot for more than $8.7 million per year.
Jordan Staal
Contract Status: One year left on three-year, entry-level deal.Looking ahead: Pens would like to negotiate a long-term extension this summer. Staal, coming off 12-goal season, might want to wait till next summer.
Ryan Malone
Contract Status: Made $1.45 million and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Malone might out-price Pens on open market.
Petr Sykora
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $2.5 million.Looking ahead: Prototype for kind of productive, reasonably priced players GM Ray Shero must continue to find.
Jarkko Ruutu
Contract Status: Made $1.15 million and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Eleven teams made offers to Ruutu last time he was a free agent. Pens like him but won’t overpay.
Gary Roberts
Contract Status: Made $2.5 million and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Retirement a possibility. Probably has fulfilled his purpose here.
Georges Laraque
Contract Status: Makes $1.3 million and will be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: He’s a comforting element on the team but no sure bet to stick around.
Pascal Dupuis
Contract Status: Made $880,000 and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Very iffy on whether Pens would want to pay much more to keep him.
Maxime Talbot
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $700,000.Looking ahead: Might find himself on one of top two lines next season.
Tyler Kennedy
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $550,000.Looking ahead: Needs to add some goals to go with all that speed and energy.
Adam Hall
Contract Status: Made $525,000 and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Had excellent playoff and likely would be welcomed back for right price.
Jeff Taffe
Contract Status: Made $500,000 and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Solid role player who’d fit right in again.
Kris Beech
Contract Status: Can be unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Seems unlikely to return.
DEFENSEMEN
Sergei GoncharContract Status: Signed through 2009-10 at an average of $5 million per season.
Looking ahead: A trade would free up money, but Gonchar is so valuable on ice and a mentor for Malkin.
Ryan Whitney
Contract Status: Signed through 2012-13 at an average of $4 million per season.Looking ahead: Gonchar’s heir apparent on power play had an excellent final.
Brooks Orpik
Contract Status: Made $1.075 million and can be unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Might triple his salary on the market, which would likely make him a goner.
Kris Letang
Contract Status: Signed through 2009-10 at an average of $835,000 per season.Looking ahead: Figures to take on more prominent role next season.
Hal Gill
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $2.1 million.Looking ahead: His physicality is a necessary ingredient.
Darryl Sydor
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $2.5 million.Looking ahead: Questionable as to what role will be if prized prospect Alex Goligoski is ready.
Rob Scuderi
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $725,000.Looking ahead: Solid defensive defenseman.
Mark Eaton
Contract Status: Made $1.6 million and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: Injury could keep salary reasonable, so he could return.
GOALIES
Marc-Andre FleuryContract Status: Made $1.6 million and can be a restricted free agent.
Looking ahead: Should be an interesting negotiation. Pens will want to reach deal before July 1 so no other team comes along with enticing offer sheet.
Ty Conklin
Contract Status: Made $500,000 and can be an unrestricted free agent.Looking ahead: As with Roberts, might have served his purpose here, but would be nice to keep for right price.
Dany Sabourin
Contract Status: Signed through next season at $525,000.Looking ahead: If Conklin leaves, he’ll be the backup.
i’m sure MAF will sign, not sure about the others… hossa is prob gone, malone is a toss up, depends on if he’s money hungry, orpik is prob gone, malkin will prob sign. just my own opinion. as for chris osgood. he’s a decent goalie. he didn’t take anyware near the shot MAF did and he’s getting old. if he would have been on a average team, he would be a average goalie at best. he did ok on the islanders and blues but nothing more. hassek>osgood
my views of hossa really turned around. we need some star players, ones that have been in the game for a few years.
I’d put money on robert’s retiring
haha did anyone else see malkin at the pirate game yesterday on tv… do russians play baseball??
nobody watches the pirates
who are the pirates?
It sounds like Orpik may stay. I heard an interview with him and he was asked about staying…and he said it doesn’t take much to keep him happy…he loves this team…he doesn’t need a pat on the back and be told good job, he is fine with coming in and doing what he does and leaving it at that.
So who knows he may stay…I think he needs to. He has developed so much. He hits, has good positioning and is even starting to be able to bring up the puck very nicely. I think he is a priority to sign…we have enough offensive defensemen on the roster.
“I’d rather take less and play on a good team,” Hossa said. “Hopefully, I can return here and be part of this organization but, with the salary cap, I know how hard it is. There’s lots of players to be signed, so we’ll see what’s going to happen.” - Marian Hossa
X2 he used to give up the puck alot be he DEF. has come along way.
Well we had a good year and hopefully we don’t lose too many of our key players this off season to free agencies. I hope next year we take it all the way, and not be as injury plagued as this Stanley Cup finals series.
my buddy was talking to scuderi last night at mario’s said he was a real nice guy, he kept bringing up how much it sucks to loose and we should be playing game 7 right now and how well win next year. he also said to keep a roster spot open for him on our roller team lol.
Now that I would love to see lol
