OFFICIAL '08-'09 BUFFALO SABRES SEASON THREAD

Wow, the officials were terrible in this game. Buffalo will bounce back.

anyone see Mair go after Ruttu (sp?) in the hallway after the game?
I caught a tiny bit of it on the 11 o’clock news, I bet he gets a suspension over it

You mean picking up 2 assists and moving into 2nd on the team in points?

QUICK OFF THE BANDWAGON!

haha u guys keep humping max…i love it

I know you drink hateraide for breakfast, lunch and dinner but I don’t see the reasoning behind dumping a guy who’s consistently setting up goals.

gee and it only took 5 years for him to actually show something, good for him.

Have you missed his 30502304 turnovers, his skating aimlessly with the puck?, or are the blinders on?

hell yeah it showed, they were skating their asses off. They deserved that win, as much as I hate to say it

Last year was horrible. He looked good before that, and he’s looked good this year. I think you confuse “skating aimlessly” with drawing defenders off other players. That’s why he will always have more assists than goals. He gets other people open to score.

Max does make stuff happen but he could make a lot more stuff happen if he’d pass the puck a bit more instead of skating in circles and coughing up the puck.

THANK YOU. at least im not the only one who sees it

Found a little info on the Mair post game hallway BS…

After Neil, Mair, the Senators’ Jarkko Ruutu and the Sabres’ Patrick Kaleta got kicked out of the game at 18:12 of the third, Mair came down the hallway near the Ottawa dressing room, still in uniform, calling for Neil.

Ruutu went out and a scuffle started. It was quickly broken up, but the episode could lead to suspensions or fines. It didn’t help that the incident was caught on TV or that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman was in the building.

What a dumbass. I hate Neil too, but kick his ass on the ice. You’ll see Ottawa plenty of times again this season.

oh my god didn’t you see the shit pp in the 3rd where we couldn’t gain the zone in 3 attempts? give it to max in our zone, not only does he singlehandedly break their blue line but also controls the situation and sets up the outside passing.

the russians have that style of play. seriously. and he’s nasty at it. Put him on a good line and he makes plays. Hell, he’s been setting up guys like mair this year. pre-season he was KILLING it.

who has two thumbs and is a big afinogenov fan?

<---- this guy

^
totally disagree. He keeps the puck too long, and 90% of the time he loses it. He doesn’t see open men to pass to, nor does he pay attention while he is out there doing his little “song and dance” moves.

Countless people at the sabres game last night were saying “oh great, Max has the puck… well, here comes the turn over” and “skating in circles is fun…” and “way to go Max, you lost the puck AGAIN”

So, you think a 5% success ratio of Max to “Keeping the puck in the zone” is good?

what max have you been watching the last 3 seasons???

well considering I only talked about this season right there…

regardless, last year was killing him but the prior season he was killing it. the man is a momentum changer, he sets people up like crazy, and his hard work when properly directed gets the puck in the back of the net.

By “sets people up like crazy” do you mean the other team?

All I see is him skating around losing the puck to the opponents, and then the promptly leave their own zone.

Or, I see him skating around in circles until he loses control of the puck, and by miracle one of his own players gets it back. That may be what you are talking about… the “luck” of Finey…

I agree that he can do things others can’t, but they are just skating tricks. I RARELY see any actual productivity.

Granted, there are occasions where I say “oh, nice” but, and I mean BUT, I say that about all of them. Everyone on the ice has those moments. That’s why they are out there. Max just seems to give the puck over way more than anyone else, and has HALF the amount of those assists or goal scoring moments than anyone else out there.

So, his fun skating that leads to a “wow, cool” moment half as much as anyone else makes him good? It just means he is entertaining and gets lucky every once in a while.

I’m not really going to value your opinion if you don’t really say anything man.

seriously, read what you said. nothing has really been said.

I will at least admit that yes he does cause turnovers, (a lot of times it’s because his linemates don’t know how to play him). The most you can articulate the good things he does is “sometimes I say oh nice” or “wow.”

what the hell is a skating trick

his linemates dont know how to play him???

umm hes been on this team how long with mostly the same teamates, cant use that as an excuse, its not like he just signed with them.

sorry man, that excuse is weak.

what? when he was on up top 2 lines it’s very different than when he’s on the bottom 2 lines.

just because people play on the same team doesn’t make them good linemates
