Official 08-09 Penguins Thread

I hope not too…just being sarcastic. I do think a trade is in order…shero better get to work. We better not lose tonight…I will be there! Maybe Kovalchik will just stay in pgh.

haha I wish but the hatred between him and crosby I dont think will go away.

I like how the guys on NHL Live just said that we r losing due to gonchar and whitney being gone… they were gone the whole first half and we were doing good, now we have a 5 game losing streak and its bc of two guys… how bout the other guys on the ice that are actually playing that arent doing anything…

I like the idea of bringing Heatley in. Just look how well he plays with scrubs like Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson.

I’ve liked Heatley since he was in Atlanta just starting out. He needs a change of scenery from Ottawa and would fit in real nice here.

Sure he would look great here…but will they think Staal and Whitney (or any other combo we are willing to give up) is worth the trade?

no offense to staal, he is a great player. but ultimately, i think he wants to be a top 2 center… and i could be wrong, but i dont see him out playing crosby or malkin anytime real soon. i think he could fulfill more of a role elsewhere.
… and whitney is nothing special.
i think that would be a great trade for the pens… so what if heatley killed a guy. he’s a professional athlete. he should be allowed.

Well, think of it this way too… Staal is going to be a $4-5 million guy when his contract is up. Is is really wise to have a 3rd line center making that kind of money with our lack of depth in top-6 wingers?

As far as Whitney goes, the thing that stands out to me is his recent rash of injuries… He has been good so far in his career up until this season and a little bit of last season. I also feel like we can develop Goligoski into the role that Whitney plays. I would hate to move Whitney because he is a skilled scoring defenseman, but it makes it easier to sacrifice him for the sake of picking up proven scoring winger in Heatley when we have this depth at Defense.

As far as Heatley killing a guy, I can understand it tarnishing his image, but it was an accident and accidents happen. I’m sure he will never forgive himself. Look at clowns like Ray Lewis who killed someone, or Pacman Jones who gets people killed. The Zoo that is the NFL still lets those guys earn a paycheck.

^^^Sure I agree with all that and it makes sense…but the thing is is a team going to give up a player like Kavalchuk or Heatley for those guys?

Yeah thats a good question… Atlanta gave up Hossa for Armstrong/Christensen/Esposito so anything is possible ya know?

Plus Ottawa stinks right now, I bet they don’t want to break up their bread and butter line, but shedding Heatley’s salary for a proven D-man and top-2 center may make up for that too…

Fixed

HAHAHA that’s true.

actually ottawa already broke up that line a couple of times… ok say ottawa would take staal and whitney wouldnt we want spezza instead of heatley?

Spezza is more of a playmaker than Heatley and he is a natural Center.

Spezza is a center and his best season he had 34 goals…Heatley is a winger/sniper and has scored 50 goals twice.

ya, we should trade a mediocre center for a mediocre center… that will really shake up the team.

another quality analysis from you.

you can shut up, atleasyt I have opinions you just keep following others…:hitit:

since you have a gf your so mean to me!!

I get what you are saying…but Spezza is badass…far from mediocre

it will be interesting to see if shera does in fact make any trades or what exactly will happen… he says he wants to stay with this core talent but who knows, we need some kind of change.

i hear ya. i’m just saying i’d be prefer heatley over spezza.

i’m just busting nick’s balls… because he sucks.

ass

finally. so far fleury looks amazing. and i always like armstrong until tonight. that bastard
