OFFICIAL '11-'12 BUFFALO SABRES SEASON THREAD

Kotalik has since regressed after leaving Buffalo. If you can’t crack the lineup in EDMONTON, NY or CALGARY, you pretty much don’t belong in the NHL.

Fuck Butler, all that fggt did was talk shit about the city of Buffalo.

And by role player you mean lazy? He was terrible towards the end of his tenure here. He’s good on shootouts for some strange reason, he uses the same move every time yet goalies always fall for it. He has a good shot, but he never takes it. I really hope we buy him out and send him to Rochester.

Not sure how i feel about the trade i dont think they really accomplished much with it… They got rid of 2 kids they really didnt need for a veteran defensemen who is near the end of his career and Kotalik who is already at the end of his career. Whose spot would Kotalik take i really dont see him starting over anyone. Sabres also have alot of young good prospects coming up… getting rid of Byron was a good move to make room for Luke Adam and Zack Kassian.

Kotalik might not take anyone’s spot.

Regher has missed on average 4 games a season in the past 5 seasons. To say he’s at the end of his career is bogus, he just turned 31. He’s got at least another 6 years left. I think you’re also failing to realize the guy is +30 +/- in his career, which has been with the heinous Flames. He immediately becomes our best D man and he can teach Myers how to play effectively in his own zone. Regher doesn’t make mistakes in his own zone, end of story.

He’ll be entering his 11th or 12th season thats a lot of wear and tear on your body especially if your not missing games. I believe hes a defensive defensemen which is a completely different style then Myers plays… they want Myers to be an offensive defensemen they preach that to all of their D. And you cant forget he was on the flames when they made it to the Stanley Cup they werent always bad and i think they have been in playoff contention the past few years cause Kiprusoff is still a solid goalie. So if you look at is +/- over the past few years it hasnt be awesome he was +27 in the season they went to the cup. One good thing about him is that he has experience playing with Leopold and maybe Montador. They tried this last year with Morrison, he was suppose to be a stay at home defensivemen that was solid in his own zone but i dont really think he paid off. But i could be wrong u could be completely right we will see.

:picard: comparing him to Morrison.

Morrisonn is a fucking bum.

The fucking flames have been horrible the past 5 years. ABSOLUTELY horrible.

Wear and tear on 12 years of hockey. Holy shit, I give up.

Recchi still owned after 24 years of playing. Lindstrom is still playing after 20 years.

If the flames have been so bad guess he wasnt doing his job then. In the last five years they went to the playoffs 3 times the same as the sabres and i wouldnt say the sabres have been absolutely horrible. I dont know how much hockey youve played personally or even to what level but yea 12 years in the NHL will beat the hell out of you. And you compared him to 2 superstars that have won cups and that play differently then Regehr i really dont think they are comparable

I’m pretty sure the Sabres scouting department knows more than all of you put together. You guys should stop arguing like little girls and leave the scouting to the pros. I think the Sabres are making good moves. Kotalik was prop just a tag along trade that is expendable. Regher might not be the best player in the NHL, but he brings talent, experience and his size to the forwards that need a little brushing up. cough cough MYERS cough cough

+1.

Scouting ISN’T their problem, look at the future sabres talent and how well they’ve done so far. Not to mention the talanted kids already in progress on the team. A trade is exactly what Regheir needs to bump his playing, and I think adding some more physicality on the back end might inspire others (Myers) to do so as well. He doesn’t score a lot, but that really isn’t his role on the team. I really like how the defense is coming together. Now we just need some center(s) to smoothin’ things out.

kotalik is the anwser to all buffalos problems. LOL

they can farm mr softies over paid ass anytime they want to win. Until they do they will not win a cup, period. Been a cancer since he started.

Islanders trade Ehrhoff’s rights to Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres are the latest team to hold the rights to defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, who is set to become an unrestricted agent at noon on Friday.

The New York Islanders obtained Ehrhoff’s rights from the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday for a fourth-round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft, but failed to negotiate a new contract with him and engineered a deal with the Sabres to acquire Buffalo’s fourth-round pick in 2012.

According to a report in Newsday, the Islanders broke off talks with Ehrhoff after the two sides failed to reach an agreement before a 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline imposed by General Manager Garth Snow.

“We made a significant offer,” Snow told the newspaper. “I don’t want to get into specific numbers, but I felt like we made a good offer and a good run to get Christian to sign.”

Snow wouldn’t reveal the contract terms, but Newsday reported it was “well north” of the five-year, $23 million contract fellow blueliner Kevin Bieksa received earlier this week.

Ehrhoff is one of the game’s best at adding offense from the blue line. The 28-year-old had a career-high 14 goals and 36 assists in 79 games last season. He had 2 goals and 10 assists in 23 playoff games, but struggled mightily during the Stanley Cup Final as he played through a shoulder injury he suffered in the Western Conference Finals.

yeah im getting excited for this season now

Makin’ moves.

Blackhawks acquire rights to Montador

The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired the rights to defenseman Steve Montador from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for the conditional seventh-round pick which Chicago will receive from Florida as part of the Tomas Kopecky trade.

The 31-year-old Montador, set to become an unrestricted free agent at noon on Friday, has spent the past two seasons with the Sabres, finishing 2010-11 with 5 goals and 26 points in 73 regular-season games. He also recorded an assist in six playoff games.

Montador has played in 519 NHL games for the Flames, Panthers, Ducks, Bruins and Sabres, posting 28 goals, 117 points, 762 penalty minutes and a plus-27 rating. He’s added 3 goals and 8 points in 43 postseason contests and went to the Stanley Cup Final with Calgary in 2004.

In exchange for Kopecky, the Blackhawks were due to receive the Panthers’ seventh-round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft, presently conditional to Nashville. If that pick is not available, Florida will transfer its own seventh-round selection in the 2013 Entry Draft.

good I hate montador he was always a liability

Sabres also agreed to a multi year deal with Nathan Gerbe… dont know the details right now ill edit when i see more

thats huge they got rid of Montador and got Ehrhoff

Gerbe was signed to a 3 year, 4.3 million deal.

Christian Ehrhoff to the Sabres…WTF is going on in Buffalo…where am I?
