No shit, but they would be will to take Roy and Miller for a #1 center. Especially if you can find a team that needs to get under the cap. Ridiculous trades happen all of the time because of the cap.
How are you going to trade 10.4 million in cap space to a team for a #1 center to a team that needs to get under the cap? Trading away center depth isn’t going to help the sabres either.
I’d love to hear some speculation on who you think would do it, and what players would be involved. I just don’t see any team willing to take on that kind of a cap hit for a goalie that’s had abad stretch of a couple of games. Any attempt to move miller at this point, makes it seem like tehre’s a bigger problem with him than that he’s just having a bad stretch. There’s only even a few centers in the league that even make more than miller, so any cap savings by moving him for a true #1 would be negligible.
Centers that make more than Miller: Crosby, Lecavalier, Thornton, Koivu, Spezza, Gomez, Staal, Richards, Toews.
Of any of the teams represented by those players, none of them have a higher cap hit than the sabres.
With the moves we made in the off season we’re essentially handicapped from moving high cap hit player like miller. We’d have to take on more in salary(like the Regher trade), and we don’t have the room to do it. We effectively have 0 cap space. Any chance to move a high salaried player would have been august when teams like the panthers were trying to get to the cap floor.
Same shit every year with this team. Miller gets run by that faggot Lucic and everyone’s too pussy to do anything about it.
Everyone thinks there is a goalie problem in Buffalo…how about the defense being a complete mess. Our goalie is getting leveled and we get 6 goals scored on us. Perfect!
I definitely expected a lot more of a response to Lucic running Miller. Mark your calendars for the next Sabres-Bruins game.
bingo!
Why they will do it again and laugh at us when we cowl and don’t do anything. I mean I understand not wanting to take a penalty, but you need to capitalize on the powerplay. They didn’t do shit last night to stop the Bruins from rolling over us.
It’s more of a hopeful thing than an absolute guarantee. I would love to see some retaliation, but I guess time will tell. They are back here on the 23rd, there better be some payback.

The problem with responding is, Lucic can take anyone of the sabres in a fight. They probably should have just ran Thomas all night.
Right, Lucic can go toe-to-toe with anyone on the Sabres. Rather than calling him out in a fight, you just target him the entire game. If he’s gonna take a cheap shot at Miller, he better expect guys will be going for his head.
Regehr nearly hit him in the 3rd I think it was, if he did it would have Lucic flat on his ass wondering what happened. Remember Lucic used to box, so maybe Gaustad or Kaleta could attempt a fight, but probably not a wise decision.
I’d trade half of The Sabres for Lucic.

Columbus needs a goalie <3
The flyers did it to their number 2 guys last year for Bryzgalov. I’m not saying you would have to do it now, but something seriously needs to change. Next year when the cap goes even higher and teams need to hit the floor, Miller would look very attractive. Especially on a team like NJ, who shouldn’t expect Brodeur back next year and Parise goes UFA. I also believe that Miller has a “limited no trade clause” which is a list of teams that he can’t be traded to, so that must make it a bit difficult.
Out of your list, I’d take 3 of them. Crosby (he’s a PIT for life though), Toews and Thornton. Everyone else is on the wrong side of thirty or a huge bust right now.
Last nights game was a fucking joke in every single aspect we played like little pussys that belong in a highschool roller hockey team. We can add all the high priced over rated guys on the team all you want. Its the same old story… Im the biggest sabres fan out of anyone I know and last nights game disgusted me. Regardless of peoples opinion of miller, what lucic did wasnt right. Running a goalie in that matter is never acceptable. What pisses me off to no end and disgusts me more than the hit itself, is the absence of aggression from our tough guys on this team, guys that usually stand toe to toe with the toughest guys in this league and do it will ( gaustad, kaleta and mccormick). There wasnt one single instance of standing up for their goalie or eachother. Its games and moments like that, that make me question how i could love such a heartless, gutless weak team.
The sabres continue our same old story undersized, heartless lazy pussies. Until lindy instills a sense of toughness and leadership into this team , they will never will a championship they have no business even competing in.
Miller has been diagnosed with a concussion: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=601155
Shanahan better fuckin give Lucic some time off for this shit. If Kaleta gets 4 games for headbutting someone, I would hope Lucic gets at least that much.
2 at most, I really don’t expect anything. He hit him, served the penalty, sabres are on the rag.
Hearing is today. ProgRocker you’re probably right. I’d like to see more but Lucic doesn’t have as much of a reputation as Kaleta.
Not going to happen with this coach, ever. I’ve said for years it was time for the Sabres and “the longest tenured coach in the NHL” to part ways.
Should be interesting to see how they do with Enroth starting for several games in a row. Could this be Miller’s Drew Bledsoe moment?
Suicide bombed his failing season seemed like a tactical move
It’s too early to call it a failing season. This isn’t just to you LZ, but I love how people are calling Miller out when the guy is still carrying a .909 save percentage. That’s still better than Carey Price, Corey Crawford, Antii Niemi, Dwayne Roloson, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Roberto Luongo (who still blows)- all of whom carry .500 or better records.
Look, I’m sorry… but I believe that he should have maybe just got a game out of what he did. As for how things are ran now in the NHL… We are dealing with a bunch of pussies. You ever touched my goalie when I was playing, a fist would be at your face (bigger than me or not) You never let anyone touch your goalie, especially barry his ass into the ground. (really funny to see) I dont care if you are a big fighter or not, you get your ass in there and start throwing fucking punches. This sport is just becoming one big pussyfest, or at least with the Sabres. You couldnt touch a goalie back in the day without the whole team coming after you, and if they didnt get you right then… you bet the next time your feet touched the ice, someone was switching and getting the enforcer on to knock your fucking teeth in.
