Teams do not trade those guys unless they’re head cases. You either suck enough to get a top 3 pick and grab them in the draft, develop them, or you fuck up your whole cap signing them in free agency.
Despite the faults you exaggerated, O’Reilly would be their best center. Who would we offer for Stamkos? Miller, Myers, and lifetime BJ’s for the whole Lightning front office from mediocre Buffalo women?
What did I exaggerate ?
Hes 6 foot, and 200lbs. Not a big proven center like the ones I mentioned. Hes unproven and is not a top line center bottom line and to top it off, he barely hits at all. Hes another pominville or hodgson. Not saying hes not talented and not effective but he is not what we need to move forward.
Getzlaf is an unrestricted free agent after the season, we would be retarded not to throw him an offer. Jordan staal went to carolina for a bag of pucks last season and is having a great year. Hell anything can happen after nash was traded from the blue jackets and carter and richards were traded from philly last year. When teams with good centers are struggling and need help, the gms are willing to listen to offers to better their team. haha Id gladly throw bjs from every trashbag I know and myers in on a deal for any of the centers I mentioned because they would instantly help our team. At this point there are only a slim amount of players Id be weary of trading and frankly I wouldnt even care that much. I want to see the team win, im done being partial to any players here.
I was Puck Daddy’s “Comment of the day” haha.
They left the funniest part out.

“I’m starting to get worried that Lindy has found himself in a permanent position. I mean, the guy has seen three popes in the Vatican during his tenure.”
I knew Mr. Ruff and his kids a little bit personally. Hes a great guy, and im sad to see hes going, but glad to see the team moving for a better direction. He had some great runs, and the sabres should have had the cup a couple times there, but those times are in the past and it is time to move on. I wish him sucess in his future endeavors. Maybe he will retire and take up couching lol.
Now the real question is would you mind seeing him in the front office from here?
Possibly GM or scouting? Im not sure what my answer to that is lol.
Won’t happen. He will go to another team before coming back.
I hate that everyone wants to see Darcy go next. I mean come on, the guy got us a 1st round pick for Gausted, also got Hodgson and Ott. He also got Grigo. It’s amazing what he’s done with some $$$
Regier isn’t a bad GM. He hasn’t made horrible trades or drafted horrible players. 9/10’s of his tenure has been under the reign of a financially strapped team. Every owner he’s had until now, has been wretched.
I for one am glad he didn’t sign Campbell, Drury or Briere. Everyone tries to make it out like he let those players go. He made very wise decisions. Those three would’ve swallowed up $20 million in cap space and you aren’t any better with them on your team (maybe Campbell is an exception).
Mike Milbury, now he was a shitty GM.
I mean in the future. He has so many ties to Buffalo now, im sure hed hop on any opportunity to come back here after coaching.
Also, coaching is such a small part of the equasion. Id argue Darcys failure to put the right players on the ice is more so the reason for our poor last few years. Those trades mean nothing in terms of results. Everyone has been talking about how good the farm looks for the past 10 years as well, and sure, its produced some good players but it hasnt produced enough winning teams.
But once he turns over the players to ruff, that’s where the breakdown was. Forget this season and “the players not listening to him”…I think his system has been broken for a while now.
I guess well find out immediately then if its simply coaching. I think the change in pace will surely spark something but I still dont think this current core, or any past cores had/have what it takes to win the cup. Ill listen to the financial restrictions of the past argument to an extent but I still think hes made some big mistakes over his years.
NHL network thinks they should have shown lindy a little more respect and kept him until the end of the season like Philly did for Andy Reid. What do you guys think?
We’ve kept him long enough. They should have let him go after last season but decided to give it one more shot with Pegula spending some more money on players.
A coaching change isn’t an overnight fix either. They’ve been playing “The Lindy System” for longer than most of these guys have even been on the team. It’s going to take a while to shift gears to something new and I’d rather blow this semi season doing it so we’re ready for a fresh start next season.

mike: bob agreed with the sentiment that rolston is very intelligent and insightful, also said he was the hardest working coach he’d ever worked with
Also the argument that miller has most goals let in this year is invalid to me. Defense is horrible and I still don’t feel miller was 100%
Btw, this flyers/pens game is INSANE right now.
Yeah I had a chance to watch him give a presentation this past summer and chatted with him and his wife a little bit. I really hope he does what he needs to do to get an extension beyond the end of the season.
We agree on something. Mike Milbury is just a fucking toolbox. He and Pierre McGuire can get trampled by a horse.
I’ll miss this Lindy Ruff Sabres moment. Also listen to that crowd.
Regier is one of the biggest problems we have. I hear a lot of inside talk and things that go on and hear enough to know that he needs to be gone to make anymore further head way. Doesnt matter if you have the money behind you or not, you make do with what you got in that position, one way or another they had to meet the salary cap just like every team in the NHL, so money was always there in par with all the rest of the teams doing good.
Oh man, that brought back some good memories.
Roll up the rim to win!
Edit: Wait, what?
“I’ve been driving around to different Tim Horton’s rolling up the rim!” LOL I loved that
