OFFICIAL 2013-'14 BUFFALO SABRES THREAD

Reports from Vanek are they never offered him anything.

Well, it was mentioned earlier and from the things I read, Vanek said they never offered me a contract. Who cares, he’s gone and never coming back.

Miller trade?

EDIT: Nope Pat LaFontaine as president of Hockey Operations.

Also rumors that Rolston and Darcy are out

Nolan to be Coach?

Have you seen Miller’s wife? I think we know why Nolan wanted to come back. Wonder if Hasek will call Miller and warn him where this is heading.

Nolan just smacks of a nostalgia hire to me.

This whole thing does.

Yeah, now that I know Regier is gone too.

Initial report was Patty was going to be President of hockey ops, which i imagined would have been above regier.

It’s like the whiner line is running the team.

Finally Darcy is gone

Having worked with him he is a dick

This is one way to fill the seats… temporarily.

OK, That’s why Ted is Interim head coach… No Gm has been named yet.

This time next year, I sincerely hope that neither of these two guys are around.

Pegula needs to stop living in the past.

Ted Nolan hasn’t coached in 8 years. Oh wait, does the Latvian hockey team count? Why would a former Jack Adams recipient be banished to Western Europe if he had anything to offer? Whether he’s a cancer or problematic, he clearly has character issues that everyone knows about.

Lafontaine has ZERO paid NHL front office experience. He resigned after a month with the Islanders.

…meanwhile, Peter Laviolette still waits for a phone call.

EDIT - Jason Botterill for GM!

Not that I disagree with you beck, but Nolan last coached in 2011 for the Amerks, and before that was 08 for the Islanders.

He did admit that he turned down the GM job because of his lack of experience. I stated that he knows too many other people that are better, but that he would be a better fit overseeing and bringing in someone who can do the job. He will be in charge of hiring a GM which I’m ok with.

LaFontaine was working in the NHL front office for a bit (started last month), doesn’t that count for something?

I love this move. Still a long ways to go but shows the owner cares at least a little bit.

NHL experience. AHL is pointless. Rolston was a great AHL coach.

I’m all for it, because it really can’t get any worse at this point.

Sure it can.

Tehcnically yes…generally speaking they are the mayors of sucksville right now.
