Official Android thread

I would hope the developers at Facebook or Zynga are capable of using a simple api. It just baffles me that these apps are push in iPhone and not on Android. I know Android is capable of push, since all google apps and twitter use them (just to mention a few). I just get upset that its not more widely used. It would make things way nicer.

edit: I think I read somewhere that Android 2.2 was the first version with push. Is it possible Facebook, Zynga, etc. don’t want to code more than once so they just make them not push since there is still a large % of the market pre 2.2?

I wish facebook would sync with my contacts. I assumed there would be a fix for this by now, bbbbuuuutttt nnnnnnnnnooooooooooo.

It’s because Facebook is mad at Google, not because of technology. Damn politics.

I did read that someplace, its the fact that it deosent work that get me, if it wasn’t there I wouldn’t care lol

I think on Android 4+ its not even there.

It would have depended on your plan. Good luck though if you cant get it activated (4G phones can be a bitch sometimes requiring multiple SIM cards) or want to return it.

Just got it activated, it was a bitch. Love the colors on this damn thing! Still think its weird to hold. I hope I get used to it

Found a couple things while researching the new Nexus phone I just activated. Hope it helps someone.

ok phone nerds here is the deal…

im on sprint right now and ive had an evo 4g for quite some time however as of late i fucking HATE the touchscreen keyboard and want a physical keyboard but i have no idea what i should get.

i text/email/tweet nonstop

i would prefer to stay android but am open to suggestions and i would also like to buy the phone outright vs sign another 2 year contract. i feel like people who currently have a phone like this are jumping ship for the iphone so i may be able to score a phone on the cheap used.

what should i look into and what should i stay away from???

the bold touch is a great option.

4.0.3 is soak testing now… and there are reports of the Razr/Razr Maxx getting ICS on 4/4/12.

the nexus is amazing! I take back all negative comments about Android. 4.0 is so polished. I love it!

Sorry if I missed it but how is the Razr? I’m up for a new 2 year and looking to upgrade from my droid x.

You’ll probably want to look at the RAZR MAXX. Great battery life, should be running ICS by the end of the month.

I’m getting 18 hours on average before it says plug me the fuck in with my razr maxx, that’s gps on, screen set to auto, no attempt at optimization at all. Streaming pandora on 4G all day, in my car, at the gym, etc. NFG

I’d cum after I got over the frustration of figuring out where everything went and deleted all the bloatware if that was true.

Yep supposedly next week for ICS for the RAZRs. 18 Hours with all that activity is ridiculous. My Galaxy Nexus is like “fuck off I’m going to bed” after like 6 hours on 4G…no streaming, or nothing. I have it on CDMA only. :frowning:

Got plenty in stock…

Correct me if I’m wrong, the Razr Maxx is only different from the Razr in battery size and memory correct?

you are correct
