Official Android thread

Well ain’t that some shit. You can pony up full price and get an unlocked SGS3 for Verizon direct from Samsung. Reasonable deal really, you get an unlocked phone and Verizon doesn’t have to warranty is when you muff your phone doing stupid shit.

I just hope this doesn’t pull dev efforts off of the locked phone because I’m really not motivated to sell this on ebay to buy the dev phone.

I’ve named her Pam.

gotta love free hotspots on vzw thats 10x faster than my home internet lol

VZW Galaxy Nexus now back to being considered a AOSP device.

If you’re on AndroidForums.com and you reuse that password somewhere else might want to change it

ok got Jelly Bean running on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. (Vicious ROM) for a couple days now.

This shit is unreal. No battery issues. Voice search / command is ill nasty, and way better than Siri, and faster to boot.

Finally…

buttery smooth…

Working on rooting mine and going to ROM it. It never works right on x64 computers, so I moved to my 32bit XP machine and I’m doing a backup now.

Successfully got Vicious 4.1.1 on my phone…Very smooth totally awesome.

this shit is fucking awful. ive fully charged TWICE today. ive also had to hard boot it ~3 times a day. how do any of you deal with this? #IMissMyBlackBerry

What are you rocking Geehee?

Razr. Mine flakes with the network for the browser 1x a week and require a reboot (off & on) and go day & a half + on a charge. Depending where I go for work sometimes hunting it’ll only last 1 day.

I’ve never had a crackberry so I can’t compare battery life but my S3 is very good. That’s with LTE, wifi and constant usage. I do have extra batteries though.

Razr. I pulled it off the charger this morning and have rebooted 3 times.

ROM it dude.

i could google that, but wtf does that mean?

nothin stands out to me in data usage, so i dont think its something that is just constantly syncing…

Root the phone (basically giving you admin privilages kinda sorta) - Tons of programs that can do it with minimal effort.
Find a ROM (Pretty much wipe the phone start over with a new OS/features/etc.) Install said rom.

I wouldn’t recommend the ROM route. I mean, it’s not a terrible idea, but that shouldn’t be the answer here. The answer should be, the phone should work correctly or be swapped out.

Personally, I would do a Factory reset/wipe on the device before putting on a ROM (which will wipe out your phone anyway).

yea, employees get fucked on the warranty deal. I’d have to send it to motorola directly.

and an esn change takes at least a day.

currently trying to wipe it
