Official Android thread

Sorry Jay, but you are wrong. There are plenty of one-click root options for a myriad of devices.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871

Install drivers for phone, make a few setting changes on your phone and run the script.

That is NOT hard.

Once you have that, you download Rom Manager from the app store and you can do anything with a quick tap in the application.

That is not rocket science.

Install “watchdog task manager lite” from the market. It should tell you what’s causing your trouble.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871

  1. Download and unzip the package (hint: save it to your PC Desktop)
  2. Install Motorola Drivers - Get it here (hint: uninstall others android devices drivers from PC)
  3. Enable Unknown Sources (Config > Security > Unknown Sources)
  4. Enable USB Debug (Config > Developer Options > USB debug)
  5. Enable Mock Locations (Config > Developer Options > Mock Location)
  6. Connect the phone to your PC as Media Sync - MTP (Change it after connect you phone to PC in Config > Storage > Media Sync)
  7. Run the script (Double click on .bat file from PC)
  8. Enjoy!

Set up a couple of settings, plug your phone into the computer, double click a file. Done.

samsung is really on a roll these days

FYI to the world. This only REALLY works because in Samsung’s modified (or as I like to put it, butchered) version of android, they do not prompt the user for confirmation of doing a factory reset.

Pure fucking brilliance Samsung.

The absolute worst part is that it will probably take upwards of a month to even get an update pushed out by carriers.

^ or they’ll delay the shit out of the JB update. When Romming, the “hardest” part is the root. There are programs like oneclickroot that can root the phone stupid easy. There are a few others that are even easier than OCR, but are model specific. as bj4 mentioned, ROM manager is the best tool when applying a rom and booting into recovery.

I won’t be clicking on any links you post from my phone for a while.

I will with my work phone later. It’s a Samsung.

apparently it’s already patched on the galaxy s3.

Google is celebrating 25 billion apps with 25 cent apps. Grab them while you can.

 Angry Birds Space and Asphalt 7

Some more things to do on boring conference calls.

EDIT: Ugh… downloading from the play store has slowed to a crawl right now. Wonder why.

@mikko: The Android remote wipe attack works not only on Samsung Galaxy but also on HTC One X, Motorola Defy, HTC Desire: http://t.co/7ZcJAoJs #tel:

I’m holding out for SwiftKey! I go through the play.google.com

Tried going to http://dylanreeve.com/phone.php and it did open my dialer but the phone did not display the IMEI code. Guess it is patched. Tried it on a friend’s HTC evo 4g running ICS 4.0.4 and it showed the IMEI code. Another friend’s Galaxy Nexus rooted with JellyBean and it would not display the IMEI.

Bump:

New Apps. The Doubletwist alarm clock is actually pretty cool.

Mini motor racing looks like a good conference call time killer.

“1) Even after winning every race in the game, the cars are still locked. Theres no incentive to win all gold races. Nothing.
2) The AI is frustratingly over the top and slams or flips you to ruin a great, tight race.”

You might end up swearing through the call… lol

Yeah it’s pretty bad.

Granny Smith is pretty fun
